Now THAT'S my kind of garage sale!
How is garage sale season treating you? What did you find, or what are you looking for?
I got lucky - don't hate me, just put yourself in my shoes:
I have ridden it to work several times and made some minor adjustments and changes. No complaints worth mentioning.

I got lucky - don't hate me, just put yourself in my shoes:
1) You notice a garage sale
2) An old bike in the driveway pulls you in like an irresistible force
3) You sidle up to the bike and sense immediately that it might be exactly what you've been looking for (in my case, a solid C&V everyday commuter)
4) Seller: "Everything over there is free. You want it, just take it." (After hard bargaining she lets you give her $5.)
So. Here are "before" shots of my new commuter: a 1984 Schwinn LeTour, all original (except RD?). It was found fully tuned up and ready to ride, with brand new tires on it.2) An old bike in the driveway pulls you in like an irresistible force

I have been avoiding the sales, in fear I'd come home with just such a find. Instead I've been riding my legs off. Great find... twinge of jealousy for such a good find, but certainly don't hate ya.

Yeah, I went to a flea market on Sunday. First table I stopped at, the guy had three bikes, all CL flippable in the $200+ range, and I had three twenties in my wallet; it was a near-perfect setup. I say "near-perfect" because there were two problems: I was on my Xtracycle, and my wife was watching! I restrained myself and picked up only the Miyata six-ten touring bike that I posted elsewhere yesterday. Here it is again:

The best thing I've ever seen at a garage sale here was an early 90s entry level GT mtb. And it was $125.
Although that's much better than the usual Free Spirits, Murrays, and kids' bikes. Thrift stores are about the same, at best!

Wow...I am like cuda, I have been avoiding looking at the sales just in case I see something irresistable...but I would have a hard time saying no to a free LeTour in what appears to be spotless condition.
