That's kind
On the open ends: no, not unique for Serier. Presto Model Jan Legrand with open blades >>>

It is the same for the tail.
Btw in Presto's new Heemskerk branch there is track bike on display and with that example the blade tops are open. That frame is Serier built. It has the Serier typical seat clamp slot. It is this bike >>> https://www.flickr.com/photos/jacques...57626613541396

My Jan de Reus also had the open ends on the forks and seat stays.

Does anyone know who was building frames for Presto back in 1972? Was Legrand already there? Serier? Slesker? I don't have a clue, neither did i found something like a timetable or any other stats.

Freek has a 1972 Legrand Presto in his Wooljersey Gallery, so of Legrand we can be sure he built for Presto in '72.

Having some parts left after finishing my last RIH build I happened to find a nice simple Gazelle AB frame pretty cheap and in a size I always wanted to try out
So yesterday I finished this classic looking champagne-coloured 1978 model in size 52 and went out for a spin.

It turned out to be a surprisingly light bike (surprising to me anyway) and the ride is super smooth and stable.
I kind of made an effort to complement the Champagne framecolour with black, gold and red accents with the tires, the Rolls saddle, handlebar tape, Sorel toeclips and Christophe straps.
Almost exclusively Campagnolo (super)record parts, save for the levers ( for ergonomic reasons)

It certainly is a cool feature and this bike has one.

I am not sure if this was a standard Gazelle break bridge at the time.
I had to clean it again after the first ride

Don't know if I posted it before in this thread, but here is my rebuilt Cera:

Built with Veloce 9-speed group (definately not period correct), tange headset, Rolls seat, VO BPB rims (total crap, but they look nice) and Panaracer Pasela TG tires.
The frame I bought on marktplaats and Cees Raas, my uncle, had it repainted by a friend. When I showed him the frame, he said it could actually have been built by Ko Zieleman, right before my uncle started building his own frames.
Cheers!

No, but it's still very nice to see it again! Very beautiful bike and probably all the more special for you because of the family connection.

Nice! They should have done a 531 lugged frame though. No serial on the Cera, btw.

Interesting. Though I'm not sure it has the same elegance as the Koga-Miyata FullPro Anniversary model that was produced in limited numbers in 1999. I came across one of them last year. So very pretty!

I like the Cera as well, pretty colorscheme.
Is it typically Dutch to name the bikes according to the first 2 characters of the builders names ? (or slight variations on that theme)
Koga, Cera, Jabo, Joco, Germi, Peka, Remi are a few that I can think of.

I also saw one last year in a bikeshop, never used. Everything on it was labeled with the 25 year label, even the chain. It was very nice. It is problably still for sale, so if anyone is interested....

I am serious with collecting Koga Miyatas, but the 25th anniversary Limited Edition doesn't really fit within the scope of my collection. For as far I know no more Koga frames from Miyata in Japan since 1996. I don't know who built the frame for 1999 25th anniversary model. It could be a boutique builder or small high end series shop. The frame uses very decorative lugs and frame parts and is fully chromed. A while ago I had the oppertunity to acquire one. Sadly the paint had suffered severely from use and it had a non original Campagnolo group.
This 25th LE model was issued to celebrate 25 years Koga-Miyata. 100 built. The bike set you back 9.995 guilders in 1999. As it was also the same period that Shimano celebrated 25 years Dura-Ace and as ties with Shimano had always been very close, Koga acquired 100 Dura-Ace 25th anniversary groupsets for this bike. The numbers 2500 to 2599 went to Koga. The frames got the same numbering. It is present on the toptube. An article where the 25th LE meets an early 80s FullPro (a '80 FullPro-L actually) you find here.

I used to think Koga was a bit like Mercedes: expensive, serious and a bit dull. Until I bought one for cheap, just to find out what the fuss was about (a 280 TE and a Gents Luxe-S respectively) and came away very much impressed. I still ride the GLS, but the Benz is gone, alas.
