Very nice. The 1st looks familiar to me. Early AA's are among my favourite Gazelles. Personally I tend to perceive Kogas as Japanese, even though the brand is Dutch. It is the same difficulty as with Concordes, which I view as a kind of Dutch/Italian hybrid. Could factually count as Dutch, but I do miss many of the Dutch typical characteristics.

Very interesting unique bike. That is the only Max tubing Champion Mondial I have seen so far. I do know you also have the Speedstream CM. Nice ensemble.

Sorry, no slender lugged frame this time, but a burly al boom tube bike. Built by Edward Hagen, to most Dutch known as successfull marathon skater. Back in erly/mid 90s the Rafty was a wild efficient cross country machine, nowadays it is true Dutch mountainbike Cult.

That's a pretty aggressive saddle to bar drop, for a MTB. Or maybe the angle of the picture is fooling me.

It is also one of the coolest off road bikes I've seen in while.

That saddle to bar drop was seen on many race orientated bikes around that period. Before it MTBs were simply more relaxed and nowadays front ends are generally higher again, because of long travel suspension forks.

The Rafty was my road bike (!) before I started develop an interest and passion for road bikes about a half decade ago.

You're right. My 29'er hardtail came with bars so wide I could barely reach the ends if it wasn't because they were set a foot higher than the saddle. It felt like cruising on one of those Dutch townies (to keep on topic), before I performed a few mods.

Mark,

The crankset will be Nuovo Gran Sport. Pretty much everything will be Nuovo Gran Sport, but levers are Nuovo Record and rear mech Dura Ace EX. This was pretty much the spec where the bike came with when I got my hands on it, except for rear mech as that was a 600 Arabesque example. It could very well be the Shimano mech was there simply because it outperforms its Campag contender.

All bearings are repacked with fresh balls and Motorex grease. Of course loose balls only. The rear hub got new Nuovo Record cones. The frame is given an internal rust prevention treatment with FluidFilm AS-R.

Cables: The golden Jagwire is ace, but I think availability overhere is poor and moreover I doubt they come with the same price tag as my white cables. I hope to maintain a clean look with the white cables.

My Batavus "Type Monte Carlo" purchased from the original owner but since sold, Other than tires and bar tape (the original wrap is still under the modern stuff) it was I believe 100% original.



My sons "Monte Carlo" which was purchased along with the one above, it had been the wifes bike.

I own a 80s Jan de Reus, a frame that offers an absolutely great ride. That frame is already shown in this thread. Not long ago I got the oppertunity to acquire a 70s Reus. The bike came including a box full original Jan de Reus clothing Below two 1st glimpses of some detailing on the frame. More pics to follow after I completed the full overhaul >>

heres my gazelle champion mondial, i bought it off a belgian woman, her brother bought it new over there, came to fresno with it and left it when he went back. i love this bike but it is WAY to big for me! the track version of this bike is one of my ultimate dream bikes! if someone has one with a 53 cm top tube please let me know!!!!!

Of course that bridge is safe. Most stopping power is generated at the front anyway, so everything overthere is exposed to more severe forces. In general: For seeing detailing were function is sacrificed for form I think this is the wrong thread.

My Reus Criterium can also be seen in the background pulling trainer duty...
