Yokota
A friend of mine was given a Yokota Nova (pictures forthcoming). Frame says it's Cro-moly, I believe SIS system, aluminum wheels. Anyone have any information on this brand? I have never heard of them. Searched the posts here, there is scant information available. Bike seems like late 80's era.

This is the only thread here: Yokota Grizzly Peak
I went in halves with my mother to buy a bike for my sister when we found out her Gitane had been stolen. We bought a Yokota, I'm fairly certain the model was the Yosemite. She still has it, and has converted the front hub to electric assist. Offhand, though, I don't really know much about the bikes without taking a look at hers, and she's in another state.
EDIT: Here's another thread: "Yakota" Yosemite

I had a Yakota come through my garage a couple of years ago. It was labled as a cross bike, but it was more a mountain bike w/700c. It was just hi-ten, but rode very nice.

I am from Connecticut and remember Yokotas appearing sometime late 80's or so. Lasted about 2 years in my area and then disappeared totally (moved to area 51?) Just another Japanese bike.

Bikepedia has a few Yokota models listed...1993, 1994. I don't see the Nova, but perhaps it'll give you an idea of the componets used.
Myself, I have a Yokota Yosemite; I last rode it regularly in 2000. Funny thing, even though it is multi-geared, I essentially rode it as a single-speed because the chain fell off everytime I changed gears. Next month I plan to put it back into service as a true single (double?) speed. My first!!!
Great frame and fork. I truly enjoyed this bike!
