RSW tires
I recently purchased a Raleigh RSW/Stowaway/Shopper.
It needs new tires - which seem to be an unusual size. Has anyone replaced the 16 x 2 tires from a RSW with common 16 x 2.125 tires? Do they fit well or do they rub the forks and stays? Or better yet - does anyone know where to get some proper replacements? |
Check out (Google) the Schwalbe City Jet and Big Apple.
Both available in 16x2". City Jet is a semi slick and the BA is the expensive one! |
Thanks for the info, Viscount!

I have been looking too and those are the only two I have been able to find. I would love to get my hands on a couple of the Raleigh Chopper tires that were on the repop that they made a couple of years ago.
I need to replace the tires on mine soon! mackerel got pictures of yours? Aaron:) http://inlinethumb17.webshots.com/40...500x500Q85.jpg |

They are available here, but perhaps you don't like the red lines on them? I found the Schwalbes very good, semi-slick and roll easy with highish pressures. Thinking about it they were 16x1.95 though! |

I like the redlines...just can't find the tires here in the states. Around here if it isn't the latest and the greatest you are usually going to have to special order it. I had to order freakin' 26x1-3/8" !!!:wtf::bang: tires the other day, and I am talking about the $10 Kendas. Nobody and I mean NOBODY had that size in stock in any brand. Like it would hurt a high volume bike shop to keep a set or two of those in stock?

Aaron you can buy Redlines for under £10 here.
You can also buy the pair for Choppers, 20x2" + 16x2" for the same price!! Shipping is extra but it might be sensible to buy the pair and sell the 20" to pay the shipping... Doesn't make sense to me, but then I'm this side of the water. |

Their site has not been updated for ages though, so it might be wise to phone them. The pairs of 16 & 20s are often listed on ebay UK Another, probably better, is: http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/rangeVie...categoryID=123 Handy having your son over here!! |
I put high pressure Kenda's on one of my RSW's. Okay going straight, but the frame is lowered by low-profile tires. I dragged a pedal or two before learning to not pedal so much going around some corners at speed.

ISO RSW tire replacement in cream or white
Also in the position as original poster. My red RSW has lost its original tires and I'd like to replace with a cream or white tire.
