on the road instead of in the dump
alright --- finished up a garbage bike I picked up a few weeks ago before bulk trash day
before - kinda sad, but hopeful http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0508.jpg new tires, tubes, shifter and cable (thanks kpug), seatpost and chain new used handlebars, saddle kept the chainguard and fenders - they're pretty rough looking, and kinda rusty, but I may clean them up one of these boring weekends - the frame is surprisingly not rusty inside or out -- most bolts and nuts had rust, the bars and post were rusty, one of the lever mounts, etc., surface rust everywhere -- but the frame is good -- looks like most of the rust on the components is just bled over from the nuts and bolts -- must've been the steel they used total invested about $57 or so rides pretty good, good gearing for flattish land -- stops just ok, gotta get brake pads probably after the wheels are trued after - totally confident http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0579.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0581.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0584.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0585.jpg |

Great find, nice rescue mission. Ain't it a shame what people throw out?
|
I have a ladies 3-speed of the same bike. It rides wonderfully, and that red really shines.
Nicely done. |
nice job. what's really going on with those handlebars?

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0589.jpg I've since changed them to riser bars - the top tube isn't near as long as on the schwinn, and it didn't feel as nice to me http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...e/PICT0620.jpg |

Nicely done. thank you got the wheels (nearly) trued today - as close as this set will get - got a wobbly pedal, but I'm pretty sure it's just the pedal and not the crank - 30 year old rubber and rust, ya know |

+10
Ya'll is one of those words that yankees mess up with amazing regularity. Nice build though.:thumb: |
Looks good. I would've been souped to find that bike, 3 speeds are a blast.
|
She cleaned up pretty good! Crazy long stem, though. Good salvage job.
