Clamp-on Chainstay Cable Stops

Is there a place to buy these once ubiquitous but now apparently scarce bits? There's nothing to them so one would imagine they would be quite cheap, but I can't seem to find a source for new ones. I only need a couple but eBay prices are of the charts.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. $15 for a rusty piece of 30 year old stamped sheet metal seems pretty outrageous to me, I could make my own out of stainless for less than that!

Any thoughts?

Seems pretty decent to me. 15 bucks is minimal to meet your needs. Put a nice stainless allen bolt on it and use it. If you are going to put it in a drawer for the next 15 years, the 15 bucks is out of line.

$5 part at the most, whether you find it at the LBS or otherwise (with exception if it is Campag). $12 is just fishing for folks who will pay the price.

I grew up poor, that's not how I think at all. A zip-tie would be minimal to meet my needs and cost less than a penny. I might be willing to pay $15 for a nice milled aluminum or stainless piece, but certainly not for a rusty used clip that the seller probably fished off a bike he found in the dump. That's not the point, it's a simple cheap piece that isn't realistically worth more than any other simple cheap piece. Other basic doo-dads like front and rear cable hangers are available new very inexpensively and I thought someone might know of a source for a similarly produced chainstay stop. Why would I want to buy one and stick it in a drawer?

NOS Campy versions are available online for $7, a much better price, but still little high zoot for the bike this is going on ;)

I have a bike that needs them and I sure wouldn't mind replacing what's on there with a stainless one -- or have an extra in case of problems down the road. Let me know if you find anything good.

$7 for Campag, eh? Better price, and probably better looking then this crummy little '70s Suntour piece.

Is this what you're talking about? Your welcome to 'em if you want 'em. Shimano, a bit rusty but would clean up nice I suppose.

I have a bunch of those chainstay cable stops (NOS) for anyone who needs one. Yours for the cost of mailing. PM me (though I'm heading out of town tomorrow afternoon, so you won't get it quick!).

That's the one in the top left. I think I'll take Neal up on his offer though, it's too good to pass up.

Thanks guys!
