can my RD handle 34t?

I've got a Suntour XC rear der currently running a 6 spd 13-28 freewheel. I'd like to upgrade to a 6 spd 13-34t freewheel. Can my RD handle that many teeth? It's a fairly long caged RD. Could it handle 32t?

thanks

I have a book (just one) from 1988 that states the XC rr der's (9000 & 7000) will handle 32 in index (Accushift) mode and 34 in friction mode.
Should be OK.

Thanks so much! I have friction shifters so I'm thrilled to be able to have the 34t

As Malcolm said already, Berto's book states that both the XC-9000 and XC-Sport 7000 are able to handle a 34T sprocket. It also states that both are indexed compatible. FYI...In his tests, Berto used a 6 speed, 13-15-18-22-26-32 freewheel for the touring derailleurs.
