General Bicycle

I recently acquired an old 80s road bike. Its General Brand, and the model is Campus. Though I have found some limited information on General Bicycles, I can't find anyone who has a General Campus bike. Does anyone know anything about these? Any information on them, or their value, would be great.

I remember the advertising line: "Put your privates on a General."

I think you need to post pics. Not much is known about this brand and we need to see the bike and components. I had one General pass through my hands. It was very low end, hi-ten steel, chrome rims, no QRs, steel stem, very low end components. As I recall I did not recognize the brand name of the components.

Here are the pictures, hope this helps. Bear in mind, this bike was pulled out of the bushes in a park, probably has been abandoned for quite some time.

Can't say I'd have energy to put that one back on the road. The paint seems to have fared pretty well though.

Back in the mid 80's I owned a General Sprite. Hi ten steel, steel rims, Falcon derailleurs. A tank of a bike, but I rode the hell out of it.

i spent too much money buying my wife a General Sprite, i think it is. It's heavy and crappy. All Falcon brand components. Generally (hah!) it's a piece of junk, but it gets her around.

this bike is going to be a bit of work. the chain was such a mess i had to saw it off with a hack saw. someone cut all the cables on the bike, and the braking mechanisms have been removed. i'm still going to take a shot at restoring this bike, it might not be too bad if i can salvage some original components. no one has any real clue about this model though?

It looks like the components that are left are the same as those on my wife's Sprite/Sprint. Maybe, depending on where you are, you could rebuild it as a single speed and sell it on CL.

Throw it back in the bushes.
