I met Jim (and Johnathon) at Two Wheeler Dealer over Christmas and he was really helpful. He was partners with Bill early on and he took the time to talk C&V bicycles with me while getting me set up to extend the bars on my new '84 Team Fuji project. It's not 27", and in '84 they switched over to cm measurements, so it's either 61 or 64 cm (can anyone tell from the pic?). I'll need higher bars and a higher seat position than with my taller frames.
My in-laws live in Wilmington and we're there often. We were there the Saturday morning after Christmas and if there was ever a video for what a successful bike shop should look like, his place was it. There were lots of customers and their open "shop area" was full of his mechanics working on bikes...very impressive to see a LBS running like a well oiled machine. So I got a quill stem riser, extra yellow cable and wire since the extra length will probably require a little more cable. Also picked up a used women's seat since I have really wide sit bones. I hated to take off the Turbo, but it just wasn't comfortable.
Here's my midway progress, haven't done the riser yet or touched up the paint, but it's ridable - and I think maybe I finally have something not "entry level" ?

This is a boring sticker... but maybe it'll bring someone a nice memory. I hadn't looked at it in years, and was surprised when I did. When I bought this bike (in 1979), Northern Virginia Cycles was located on Elden Street in Herndon, and this sticker shows the shop's previous address. They sold Schwinn, Ross, and Bridgestone bikes.

This is not exactly vintage, 1980's. But since I saw Gugie's earlier sticker from the same shop it made me get this picture too. This is from my wife's Trek 1500. Bought as a replacement after being knocked over by a Danville, CA cop with a classic right hook. Long story but to replace that bike I took her to my old shop (70-72 approx) and we got this one. Now being used by one of our daughters, still rides great.
