Is the Billy you're talking about Bill Curry the pretty well-known surfer? That's who I bought my 1st bike store bike from and his place wasn't Two Wheeler Dealer if I remember correctly. I think it was on South College Rd (Hwy 132) and I was also trying to remember the name -- small world

I met Jim (and Johnathon) at Two Wheeler Dealer over Christmas and he was really helpful. He was partners with Bill early on and he took the time to talk C&V bicycles with me while getting me set up to extend the bars on my new '84 Team Fuji project. It's not 27", and in '84 they switched over to cm measurements, so it's either 61 or 64 cm (can anyone tell from the pic?). I'll need higher bars and a higher seat position than with my taller frames.

My in-laws live in Wilmington and we're there often. We were there the Saturday morning after Christmas and if there was ever a video for what a successful bike shop should look like, his place was it. There were lots of customers and their open "shop area" was full of his mechanics working on bikes...very impressive to see a LBS running like a well oiled machine. So I got a quill stem riser, extra yellow cable and wire since the extra length will probably require a little more cable. Also picked up a used women's seat since I have really wide sit bones. I hated to take off the Turbo, but it just wasn't comfortable.

Here's my midway progress, haven't done the riser yet or touched up the paint, but it's ridable - and I think maybe I finally have something not "entry level" ?

Winter Park Schwinn. That name just came to me, although I have not found my address book yet. Strange how memory works.

That's most likely his shop, because Winter Park is that part of town. I remember having a choice between a Varsity and the Fuji Supreme he pushed as the best bang for my limited budget, and available in a 27" size. It took forever to come in though and I bugged him a lot with calls asking "is it in yet" - I think he was so ready to get me out the door when it finally arrived he didn't get around to putting a shop sticker on it...I wish it had one.

Here's a couple off of mine:

And this place must have sold some good stuff over the years as at least 4 of my current bikes came from here:

This is a boring sticker... but maybe it'll bring someone a nice memory. I hadn't looked at it in years, and was surprised when I did. When I bought this bike (in 1979), Northern Virginia Cycles was located on Elden Street in Herndon, and this sticker shows the shop's previous address. They sold Schwinn, Ross, and Bridgestone bikes.

Other accomplished Turin riders were Mike Neel, Tim Zesadny, Mike Farrel, Scotty Andrews, Mike Cavanaugh.

Getting rid of a duplicate post, A recent parts bike purchase had this NC State license sticker, there's a few license stickers on this thread.

That's an early sticker. By the time I knew them it was Nova Cycle (NoVa is the area in the local parlance) and they had seven locations and I called on all of them. Nice folks but they eventually shut down, although some of the individual shops may still be open under different ownership.

This is not exactly vintage, 1980's. But since I saw Gugie's earlier sticker from the same shop it made me get this picture too. This is from my wife's Trek 1500. Bought as a replacement after being knocked over by a Danville, CA cop with a classic right hook. Long story but to replace that bike I took her to my old shop (70-72 approx) and we got this one. Now being used by one of our daughters, still rides great.

Show us your shop stickers

In another thread, @gugie showed how he removed the Hans Ohrt sticker from a Raleigh Grans Sport. Then, @GrainBrain said:

I love finding vintage rides with the old stickers!
Over on CR, a thread has been going for a few days about influential people in the bike world who weren't framebuilders or racers. Many of the people mentioned were shop owners who, through their activities other than just selling merch (organizing races or tours, sponsoring teams) were the seeds of significant bike culture in their area.

I thought it might be nice to share pix of shop stickers. I'll start. This Wastyn sticker is from my Frejus Tour de France:

And it has a different bike with a Wastyn Cycle sticker on post 4. Those old threads just make me hate Photo Bucket.

The new gugie thread also had me thinking this was a good idea. I should have known there would already be one.
