Lack of Knowledge and Indecision...

I'm currently looking for a new (old) road bike and I've spotted three possible choices on my local classifieds, they all should fit fine but the problem is that the images sent to me by the respective owners don't really show me what models of each make are. In the end I don't know if they're really worth the commanding price, which is why I've posted here because I know that as a collective in this forum we have some mighty brains in the Bike community. Pictures are posted below with details in each caption. Larger pics are linked underneath.

First we have a green concorde road bike commanding $150 but I believe I can get it down to $100.

Next is a Raleigh Grand Prix in pretty good condition, it's asking $60 but I can probably back him down to $40.

Lastly is a Brentwood Hustler, this is the one that I know the least about and want to know if it's worth the $35 asking price.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I'd go for the first...

The first is the best IMO.........You stated they should all fit fine. That looks like a pretty good range of sizes there. From small to really big. What size are you looking for?

Anyways......the Hustler is junk. The other 2 are OK even though they are completly different sizes by a long shot. If I had to guess I'd say the Concorde is a 54cm and the Raleigh is a 60+cm.

Get the Concorde.

+1 on number 1.

Which one is a good fit for you? Don't buy anyof them if it doesnt' fit. Almost anyone here can pedal any of those three bikes, but with three bikes running the gamut of frame size, I can't imagine that all of them are good fits for your body dimensions. Bike fitting just doesn't work that way.

If the Concorde fits you, it's the best buy.

Never ride a bike stenciled HUSTLER unless u wanna be beaten up.

And yeah, u gonna buy a bike wo knowing what size you are? Shoes?

Concorde would be best. Add a new freewheel/chain. At some point throw some newer chainrings on and it will be smooth as butta.

Seriously. Fit. Fit. Fit.

unworthy1 07-30-08 10:22 PM

true^ fit first, then buy the Concorde. That's the best bike by a mile, IF it's your size. Otherwise, the Hustler is worth $35 just to have a bike with "hustler" on it, but not to ride.;)

thanks a lot guys. I think I'll actually pass on all of them, no one's budging on the prices and they're pretty far away and I don't have a car. Oh well I'll see if something new will come up.

Sheese, got us all worked up for nuthing. That 1st is actually pretty sweet. Racing geometry/components. White highlites which is hot these days (white stuff cost more). Aero levers, matching white cables, chrome forks. Catch a ride man, it's worth it even at $150 by the look of it. If cheap racing is what yer looking.

Beachfixies, do you know what size you need?

RobbieTunes 08-01-08 04:35 AM

I wonder if the Concorde owner would ship. I know a girlie or three that wants a bike like that...
Oops, never mind. I hit the link and it needs a little more than cleanup, for $150.
