Mystery 80s hybrid frame. Bianchi?

Got this mongrel bike the other day that someone had tried a SS conversion on, pretty much nothing was installed correctly so I stripped the parts off except for the seatpost of course that I need to extract with a set of vice grips as the gorilla that installed it decided not to use one the right size.

I'm wondering if it is some low end Bianchi as the color seems right though I haven't compared it to my celeste frame which is stored away currently.

It has to be 87-88 because of the chainstay mounted roller/U-brake bosses. It had 27" wheels on it but it very well could have come with 700c, there was a rear caliper brake mounted to the front reflector mount hole. The rear spacing looks like 127.5 and the BB shell width is 68. The ST is 54cm C-C and the TT is 58cm C-C. Serial number is hard to make but it might be 377173xx and it is on the bottom of the BB radially on the right side, there is a mount for a plastic cable guide there too.

Any ideas are welcome!

Here are some pictures:

And I still haven't been able to find tou what this bike is:

could be a Bianchi, but the only Hybrid or City bikes I saw from them (via Taiwan) did not have celeste paint nor that rear brake location, that seems to my mind to be strictly a short-lived Mtn. bike trick. So, tho I'm prepared to be wrong, are you sure it can take 700C wheels? Will cantilevers reach the rim (on the fork with a 700C wheel mounted)?

Is it an early Boardwalk? I don't know when Bianchi got into the Hybrid biz, but they certainly were in it by the early 90s (I've got one). Is it possible this is an early model? BTW, my Boardwalk is not Celeste, its that dull Bianchi blue.
EDIT, If its a Boardwalk, it will take 700C with wide tires.

I popped some wheels on it again and took a look at where the rims line up with the bosses and it definitely is not anything but a 26" wheel bike, I'm surprised the 27s fit on there with plenty of room. I was a little excited that I may have a non MTB frame with the chainstay mounted brakes... but I guess it's an old MTB which makes a lot more sense. So if there are any Bianchi mountain bike catalogs out there from 87/88 I could probably figure it out pretty quick but I'm a little less interested now! The alloy wheels were worth what I paid for it anyway. I already had a frame lying around that needed a set.

Probably use it as practice to get the spray paint off for my other Bianchi frame I got with a cheesy rattle-can job then use it as a SS grocery getter as my other one is needing some attention.

With that celeste paint, you may have a Grizzly, Bianchi's top-end mountain bike. Definitely
87 or 88, and definitely worth removing the rattlecan black to see what's underneath.

EDIT: It looks like it's welded, not lugged, so it may not even be a Bianchi...

Nope, that's not a Bianchi Grizzly. I have an 87 myself and it's lugged (even the fork is lugged) and the top rack mounts are inside the seat stays. Mine had the original 26" wheels on it also, not 27".
