Schwinn Paramount Date?
Hello all,
I aquired a Schwinn Paramount and have been trying to find the date. The code is "H7602" on the left drop out. My search says it should have one letter and five numbers. My bike has one letter and four numbers. Maybe Feb 1953. Or, H=Aug and 76xx=1976?? Help!!
The pictures are too big to up load and I don't know how to resize them.

Or H=Aug and 7=1967--- but I seriously doubt Schwinn built 602 Paramount frames that month. I have a 1966 and the serial number is F692. So it was the 92nd frame built in June 1966.
There are big differences between a 1953 and a 1976 Paramount. First look at the lugs. Do they look anything like mine? They might not be chrome but they will be the same shape if a '76.
Next look at the crankset. In '76 it would have been a Campagnolo aluminum looking similar to this one. In '53 it would have been steel, probably with a "Schwinn" or "Paramount" engraved into it.
Finally, a 1953 would not have a rear derailleur. It could have been a 3 speed(?) "Touring" model or a single speed (fixed) "Professional Racing" model.

Best of luck! (Try loading your pictures on Photobucket, and then using the "Mountain and Sun" Icon above to link your pictures to this forum. Copy the "Direct Link" at Photobucket and paste in the dialogue box.)

Schwinn Paramount H7602
I looked at the Paramount Date Codes info on the Waterford site, and it would appear that your Paramount was one of the 1970 to mid-1980 models. https://waterfordbikes.com/now/home.p...aramountdating
If I've deciphered it correctly, your bike was the second Paramount built in August, 1976.
A great bike, as were the many built during the 1959-1979 period. Would love to see some
pictures.

Thanks guys!
My lugs look like PastorBobs. I was concerned that my serial number was only four numbers instead of five.
I got this bike from a storage unit auction and want to find out what I have and what to do with it. It appears that somebody once loved this bike.
I will work on getting some pics up soon. I need to find a camera that will take the pics at a lower quality so the size will be smaller.

Pastorbob, In the late sixties I think paramount serial numbers included super sports too. Making 600 frames plausible.
Here's a serial on one of my sportys.

Paramounts had a different scheme up to '66 and then the later '60s, though similar to this, only a two position monthly build count (as volume dictated). Now, 1972 might have needed that third digit.
I agree that this is a 1976 bike.
