About to break my golden rule with a PX10

...And that rule is that I don't bring home any bike that doesn't fit me.

Well, an acquaintance I ride with has notified me that he is selling his white 63cm PX10 for a very reasonable sum of money...he just wants it to go away. It is reported to be in decent condition for its age.

Stronglight crank has been replaced with a Campy (still may have Stronglight), rims are Mavics, one brake lever was replaced with a generic DiaCompe, Simplex rear deraileur was replaced (still may have original), has original Ideale saddle.

Would it be worth it for me to grab this, clean it up, and trade it locally for a nice piece of British steel or other unique bike? Riding it is out of the question...I cruise on a 52-53cm.

If it's not beat - sure. At the least, you'll generate a bit for the bike fund.

Ooooh, I dunno, last time I did that I felt pretty dirty about it. I hid the bike in the garage, staring at it and knowing full well that it wasn't bought out of necessity or practicality... I got rid of it really quick after that.

Depends on what you mean by cleaning it up. Restoring it to original spec's probably wouldn't pay much but just new grease, cables, etc or even just trading it 'as is' to another bike nut should be a safe bet. There are quite a few PX10's passing through ebay so you can try to get a sense on market value there. I'd guess roughly $300 +/- based on your description but that can vary a LOT based on what parts are present/missing (eg Ad Hoc pump).
