media blasting

Since I have a massive 220v 80gal 8hp compressor, paint guns, body tools ect I want to "experiment" on a couple old frames to see what type of media is best. And maybe spay up a couple with left over paint from some vehicle projects.
I would think Aluminum Oxide is to sharp and course and that sand may pit the tubing.
Has anyone used plastic media?
Glass beads?
Walnuts?

You might want to try searching the forums, this has been talked about before.
But from what I've read (never tried myself) plastic media is the way to go

I have used them all. I really like the plastic media. When it's clean you can hit glass and chrome without damage. You can re-use it too.....I've succesfully removed paint from cars layer by layer. Soda works good too as it supposedly neutralizes rust. Sand works good if you're careful but it's easy to get to far into something and it can warp panels from heat. If you're gonna blast something make sure you mask any openings really well or your media will get in the frame and it's nearly impossible to ever get it out completely. Oh and get a good full hood mask, wear glasses, use a "shoot suit" with the openings taped tight and some welding gloves......Did I mention it's messy too?

This was blasted with sand. It doesn't appear to have hurt it.

I've used ALOx and didn't have any problems with frame damage. Here's one result. Now, my braze-on removal skills, that's another issue.
