OK ! well its a 50/60,s "Supreme" built for "Malvern Star" by "BSA" app its rare because of the "Australia Maps" in the headtube! Malvern stars as the name suggests had stars on the headtube usually just one but the rarest being a 5 star, (top line race bike) so the frame with the Aust Maps on it is indeed a rare find ! here,s some pics for you ![IMG][/IMG]

Honestly I'm not trying to piss on your parade, but that is not a 50's/60's bike. As far as its rarity I have no clue, but it is a 70's gaspipe 10 speed (even if it is rare one).

This thread is worthless without pictures.

Please stop teasing and give us some more info.

EDIT: I now see some pictures. Nice find.

i.e., the local shop owners have been bragging about the rarity of this machine?

Picked up a BMX to salvage the free wheel. Turns out that it was a rare 1st generation Haro. A guy that restores BMX bikes bought it. I was Blessed to have the $, it allowed me to make that month's mortgage payment (not all of the payment but most of it).

that's the kinda story I like to hear (unless you mortgaged $500 over 30 years to buy your house....lol)

the whole 'treasure hunting' aspect is part of the fun for anything like this.

btw, pardon my ignorance, but what's a gaspipe bike? one w/ heavy, thick tubing?

Low end, stamped dropouts, bad quality
etc.

You had it pretty much spot on.
