Are these worth the money I would pay???
 

Hi, I just started riding bikes a week and a half ago. Right now I have a Schwinn mountain bike I bought from someone for $75, but I am looking to get a road bike. I have a very limited budget so I am looking for a starter bike at $100 or less. The mountain bike is great but on the road it just feels like I can't go that fast. I saw these 2 road bikes on craigslist, but from what I am reading they aren't worth it.

I also went to my local salvation army and saw an old Spalding Blade for $55

Are any of these bikes worth it?

Size, size, size first. The Free Spirit is likely junk, while the Concord a bit better, but neither matters until you determine what your best fit is - that Concord is made for someone 6'; the F.S. for someone 5' 3", or thereabouts.

Ah I see, I am about 5' 10"-11". I tried looking up Concord but no information came up about the bike. Is this a real company?

You can put some higher pressure road tires onto your MTB to improve the feel and speed on the street.

Or look at these local options, not necessarily faster or better, just ones to consider.
Fit is most important, functional quality is probably next.

Nothing else on your local CL's first three pages really look like anything I'd even look at for the money. Also looks like you've got quite a few stolen bike reports and quite a few higher priced fixie conversions, so be aware of what you're buying and who you're competing against.

I'll just go back to what I said, try a set of road tires on your current bike first and see if that improves things for you enough.

I second the recommendation to put slicks on the mountain bike and see how it feels. That won't set you back much cash, and you will have more time to look for a really good road bike deal.
