dating Schwinn Voyageur SP

I am going to go look at this Schwinn Voyageur SP (hopefully)... but wonder if any one can peg a date on it before I go. Component desc (which may not be orig) incl:
Sugino AD cranks
Shimano Deore road group drive train
Dia Compe brakes
Key desc: Frame is light blue with dark blue head tube

I couldnt find any similar pics on google image
any ideas?

Voyageur SP was made 82-85. Schwinn Catalogs 80-90. The easiest way to know the year is the headbadge. There will be four numbers stamped into the headbadge. The first three are the day is what made (001-365) and the last is the year. Normally you have to guess the decade, but it will be 80's if it is an SP.

The link works fine for me...

I don't believe the Voyageur SP was built in Chicago; I'm pretty sure it was imported. The seller probably is referring to "Chicago" on the head badge, which is where Schwinn was headquartered.

(Zombie thread warning)

Realizing this is an old thread, nonetheless here is a very good Voyageur reference comparison and here are the author's (Sandro Fouché) pages on Voyageur's: General info, 1983 Voyageur SP and 1984 Voyageur SP

The OP's dark blue (Midnight Blue, per Schwinn) by default, would make his bike an 84 or 85 Voyageur SP.

Just want to say that kpug and me both were very impressed by the Voyageur SP. We rode it w/o any loads, but it was very comfortable and stable. The build quality was very good also. It rode better than my early Miyata 1000.

Which year Voyageur SP do you ride? I'm curious since the SP used three different tubing manufacturers between 1982 and 1984. My wife has an '83, but hasn't taken it out yet.

Exactly, the Voyageur and Voyageur SP varied quite a bit over the years; I'd be curious to know which Voy rode better than the exhalted Miyata 1000!

I think it is the 84.
