My father and his friend took the bike completely apart, including headset, bottom bracket, and hubs, so my father would be prepared for the several weeks long tour.

Hello All,
Finally, here is the picture of my restored Fontan. It is a joy to ride. I plan to put a new wheelset on. I don't have the original wheels. but I will put on a Velo-Orange 27in wheelset. Again, this bike was bought used in 1972. Not sure when it was built and shipped from France. Almost nothing original left. My favorite parts are the original saddle, and the Campagnolo shift levers. I stripped and repainted the bike and got decals from VeloCals, which I now see is closed. I might add some Velo-Orange fenders. Anyway, I'm very happy with the restoration so far. It was never meant to be restored with parts that would have been original, I just love riding it, and want it to function as best as possible. -Chris https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...38c56f9960.jpg |
