old campi
gonna throw this one out there--- I just recently sold an old frame to a crazy bartender chick---
Its an old gold 10 speed looking "campi" headbadge--- should I have kept it? never seen one like it I ride two pinys and the headbadge looks like the same as my pinarello--- |
We need pics.....of the crazy bartender chick.
|
Well, at least pics of the bartender chick on the bike!
|
ya know --- I could of put this on a stripper blog---and got some responses for the bike.......
|
So is the headbadge Campagnolo ? or is it actually CAMPI ?
I don't know anything about campi as a marque. Pictures of the bike would help, I'll leave questions about the bartender to the others. also pictures of the lugs, bottom bracket and dropouts would be good. marty |
this bike would be around late 60's-- gold-- cheap lugs shiney metallic tape on the downtube
no pictures sorry--- I wanted to keep this bike if only for the front badge ( the badge says "campi" c-a-m-p-i in the same place as if it were on a pinarello--- same design.-- it is not a high quality build, but vintage just the same "made in italy" or so it claims..... chromy fork legs, but soft steel--and no markings on the drop-outs--- just kinda odd... this one was a 57. |
I had a bottom-of-the-line 1962 Bianchi Corsa 10-speed in red with gold trim. My brother's was gold with red trim.
One of my schoolmates had a Campi 12-speed, which looked almost identical to our bikes, except for its green color. A 6-speed freewheel in the 1960s made his bike a rare bird indeed. |

Can you tell me anything else about your friend Green Campi? I had nothing but a rattle caned Campi frame land in my shop and am looking to rebuild. But they know little about it
Bottom-of-the-barrel components: steel Universal sidepull brakes Bianchi-labeled leather saddle (best part of the bike? :) ) aluminum Ambrosio bars (second best part of the bike?) cottered steel cranks (Magistroni?) with 52-47 cottered Huret Allvit derailleurs 13-16-19-23-26 Regina freewheel 26x1-3/8" Pirelli Stella whitewall tires 21" steel frame with head tube and head lugs made from a single unit ("semi-fake lugs") Huret wingnuts on high-flange hubs steel rectangular "rat trap" pedals My friend's Campi was identically equipped, except for a 6-speed (rare in the day) Regina freewheel, making it a 12-speed version of my Bianchi Sorry, no pictures. I bought the Nishiki Competition in 1971 and was given my first Capo Modell Campagnolo in 1972, and never looked back ... . |
Wow... thank you so much! DO you recall their color? I have an old picture that looks like it was yellow and brown or yellow and gold? Were the lugs bare metal or enamel? These are very specific questions of course lol... thank you for all the above!

I rode mine for 8 years, from December 1962 to March 1971, when I bought the American Eagle Semi-Pro (Nishiki Competition) and set up the Bianchi for my college sweetheart (now wife of 49 years), with Peugeot UO-18 style upright bars and Schwinn TwinStik shift levers. |
The olive-green bike to the right here in this years-old photo of my basement is a Campi, still has it's head badge but is in pretty weathered condition with half of it's parts missing.
I still have it if detail photos are needed, but I doubt that the paint is original and it's a fairly low-end model from the 60's. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4126726e39.jpg |
nice.
It is a bummer, after going over the frame it had more damage than we previously thought from a crash a while back. It will probably just live on a garage wall as spider housing |
Awesome :) I may just paint the frame for him lol, the frame has a bend
