Schwinn Continental I just bought

I just bought this Schwinn today to replace my stolen commuter bicycle. It's pretty heavy and feels like a tank. Anyone know what year this bike is from?

I'd ask what kind of derraileur it has. Looks like a copy of an old Huret. My guess is 1970 - 1974-ish.

Nice catch. Based on the serial numbers and using the reference chart on Schwinn Data Book , looks to be a Chicago built, on Sept. 1973. I have a soft spot for Schwinns and have a Schinn LeTour.

I picked it up from CL today for 25$. It needs quite a bit of work and I'm thinking of restoring it back into a decent shape.

Kool Lemon goodness! Start with Meguiars Scratch X and then use their 3 step process to bring the paint back to life. You will be amazed by the ability of how 35 year old Schwinn paint can once again look as if it is new. Be careful around the decals, they are old fashioned water slides with no clear on top. Here's a closeup picture of the Varsity I hauled home from the dump after using Meguiars. Best of luck on your project.
