Tubular tyres .

HI , i generally stick to this part C&V of the foums , and this question may or may not be relevat here but i'll try anyway .

Some of you know that recelty i aquirred a pair of 90's ( 96 i think ) Campa shamals . whihc are lovely by the way !
They are going on my E.Merckx corsa extra which has the team stuttgart color scheme . pink white & green . the shamals have a pink back groung decal behind the lettering "campagnolo , Shamal" on the rims .
SO now its time to start matching colors if it is at all possible .
i am looking to balance out the color scheme which would mean that (IMO) green tyres would make my merckx just look sweet !
anyone know where i can find Tubulars in different colors , of quality ?
i found one site which offers a nice tubular but the pårice for shipping is almost as much as the tyre .

Cheers T
Here is what i have found but not really anymore .

Dam...and I dont want to spend $20 on a tire. (I need 6)

Road Fan 09-15-08 05:15 AM

well soder, that is a pretty good tire. Your goal isn't "get a tire," it's get a tire with specific attributes. If you're lucky you might find a cheap one, but it becomes harder if you have a lot of constraints.

That said, there were some Monti tires on Ebay, and Vittoria Rallye in multiple colors. Lotek (I think) has tried the Montis, and I think the Rallye is a pretty good tire, but probably not the quality of the Pave.

a big thumbs up for the Rallye. I like them a lot.
If you want a black tire wit ha nice green decal, the old vittoria formula 1 is a good (cheap) choice.

HI , thanks for the replies ..
yes road fan i am looking for quality and asthetics all wrapped into 1 . the PAVÈ is looking nice but the price of the tyre and shipped will just about KILL me . literally .
anyway .i check with lotek and se what he thought of the tyres .
i run several sets of wheeks with Contintental Sprinters ( tubs ) and i just love them, value and quality :IMO ..
cheers

Soder,

There are a pair of Green Vittoria Rallyes on ebay as we speak. I've used the rallye and its not
a bad tire.
Road Fan is correct, I've got a pair of Monti's, and they too are ok, not premium tires like the
Pave you linked to, but on a par with the rallye or Conti Giros. They too are currently on ebay but
Mike F. is only listing black, blue or red ( you might contact him about the green ones).
Monti:

Vittoria:

the seller is Italtechno and he usually has a good stock.

One problem with the Montis....Mike does not appear to ship outside of the U.S.

lotek 09-16-08 08:08 AM

If shipping is a problem I'd be willing to receive them and then forward them
on.

Marty
