Odd Campi derailleur ID help?

I know nothing about Campi bits after the '70s and can't figure out what gruppo is on a Campagnolo equipped bike I'm thinking about buying.

I'd never seen a derailleur like this one. It appears to have a parallelogram that can be adjusted to follow the cogs of either a wide or close ratio FW.

The bike has very few miles on it but I would need to completely replace the drivetrain as I need shorter cranks, bar end shifters and much lower gearing. I'll also need taller stem and wider bars than the Cinellis on the bike. If the existing Gruppo is valuable then I could sell the bits to finance their replacements.

What are they selling it for? What brand of bike is it?

Looks neat!

Price is still being negotiated. The bike was built by Terry Osell. The seller is a cyclist but his wife was a runner. He had Terry build her the bike, hoping to convert her. It's been sitting for years. It's a long drive out to his place so I'm trying to figure out as much as possible before going out to look at it. He also has a couple of elderly neighbors who want to get rid of their English 3 speeds, so it could be worth the gas.

Yesterday during the rainy http://abcetour.com we had lunch with Terry and another gent who said he'd buy it but couldn't ride a pink bike. I'd have to change components, he'd have to have it painted.

I have this bike and though it's not pink, I still haven't ridden it just because my daughter said,"Daddy, I like your new princess bike." That killed!

We bought my great-grandson a purple 20" Trek that had white flower transfers and a white basket. He's a Minnesota Vikings fan so we removed the basket & covered the flowers with Viking stickers.

nice looking bike, I'd ride it. I was going to go to the ABCTour on saturday, but I had to go pick up my car in Fairbault after a tour on friday from fairbault to mankato. What a nice day for a ride. How was the ABC tour? any pictures?

I'd ride it in a heartbeat - I love the color. Looks far more magenta then pink. Reminds me of the old Hot Wheels Spectraflame colors.

If it was mine, I'd even wear a skirt and ride it around the block just to freak-out my neighbors! Might clash with my beard a bit - but I'm secure enough to do it! LOL.

It didn't rain the whole time and most of the time the rain wasn't heavy. Wasn't too cold and it didn't get windy till late in the ride. The heaviest rain was for an hour or so during the tea party in Marlys' garden. We all quickly figured out that less of you got wet so we all stood for the whole time.

Jon and I had saddle covers and a few people had swapped their Brooks' for vinyl saddles. But there were a good 20 saturated Brooks' being ridden on. Hope none got ruined. Because of the slow pace and long stops everyone was wet for 7-8 hours, but it was still great fun. No mechanical failures among the old steeds, but one accident with minor injuries on the Great Rivers Trail.

One gent drove non-stop from Oswego NY and rode a 1939 Selfridge (sp?) 26" rod braker.

I had built my 1957 RRA Moderne up with alloy rims instead of the correct steel. Saturday proved the wisdom of that choice. The FM even co-operated by going into low whenever needed. The more I ride that bike the more I love it.

Sunday the rain held off till after the swap meet and ride. I sold quite a bit of stuff, including 4 cotter presses and several sets of RainCheater brake pads to people who'd had "wet chrome rim" scares the day before.

Despite the threat of rain, a few stunning bikes showed up for Sunday including a 1939 Bates BAR that had just had a full Cycle Art restoration. Cantiflex tubing, Diadrant fork, Constrictor rims and Resilon split cable cantilever brakes. Jon showed his latest acquisition, a very original 1939 Raleigh Record Ace. He paid less for the bike than to have it shipped. Nice Flying Scott and Raleigh Blue Streak too. Paul McGleet showed the 1969 Raleigh Pro he raced on when he was 15 years old. Good tales of winning the state championship and racing in the Nationals.

 Not me, but I don't mind a retina-burning color. Blind all the others when racing ;)

Oh, you're the Bikesmith guy. I gotta get one of those cotter presses at some point this winter. I've toyed with the idea of building one myself, My father-in-law gave me a great set of vintage power tools, machining tools, including a metal lathe, I've never used it before, but i would like to learn how to use it. The tools were all his father's tools, that he used to build an airplane in his back yard. my guess is most are from the '20s and '30s and some are in NOS condition.

man, sound's like I missed out on a great time, next year I'm going to make it a priority. Sounds like there were some beautiful bikes there, cant wait to see some pictures up on the ABCTour website.

I would normally ride it, but I just can't let me daughter see me riding it. My wife also adds fuel to the flame by asking my daughter in front of people "What kind of bike does daddy have?" Of course my daughter says "A princess bike. And he wears diapers too." She refers to my cycling shorts with chamois as "diapers." :roflmao2:

Nothing too high tech. All I used to make the prototype was a drill press and a metal cutting band saw. Oh, and the lathe to form the cup on the end of the bolt. The production ones are made on a CNC mill.

My Lathe is a 1938 Southbend and my big belt sander and one of the drill presses are from the '50s. Great stuff.

Don't miss it. This is the 1st year we've had bad weather. Typically, I think this is a dry time of year here.

Nah. She just likes to piss me off. J/K She knows it cracks me up when my daughter says those things. In reality, she really wants me to sell that bike since I never ride it and she now knows about the value of some Campagnolo parts, which this bikes is decked with.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220279900698 this is nearly Identical to the lathe that I have, except that I do not have the original table with mine, and mine is a craftsman brand, my guess is that it's made by the same company. I also have a metal cutting band saw and a drillpress/tablesaw/jointer/discsander all in one tool that's pretty cool, only one motor and it all works off of belts and pullys. Everything is Rock solid and will no doubt out live me. I also have a fairly extensive collection of taps and dyes.

I gotta get and scan the picture of the Airplane that my Wife's Grandfather or great grandfather built. really impressive, it's a biplane. In the Picture the neighbors are looking over the fence with a "what is that contraption?" look on their faces. anyways [/threadjack]

Next year I will make that ride for sure.
