Not sure if this bike is categorized as a mountain bike from the 80s, but to me, it appears as a hybrid. It came with all the 'bells and whistles'. Literally has a bell, fenders, tool bag, light generator, and a rack! Everything seems to be in good condition, although I have not cleaned it up yet. Just got it last night. I know I'm looking at new tires and lubing. From what I've gathered from my research, this isn't a high-end bike by any means, but an entry level bike. What knowledge might you all have on this model? I paid $35 for it. Do you think the cables are okay if no visible fraying is present? Thanks a lot!

It was a MNT bike at one point back in the 80s and turned into what it is today.. I have a Techium Obsession with the space age glue, etc and all hanging in my garage. It's the first mnt bike I ever got and still rolls and shifts as good as new. It's lasted the test of abuse over the years.

I'd consider replacing the cables, etc with new. If you can do it yourself it's cheap. If you cannot use this bike to learn how to do it....just make sure to tighten things good.

I appreciate the info. I have replaced brake cables on my Schwinn with success, but haven't tackled gear cables yet. Looking forward to teaching myself though.
Oh, and the wheels are dang near true! Bonus! :)
