Motobecane Jubilee Sport. Some Help Please

Here's the bike...

https://nashville.craigslist.org/bik/848795021.html

and here's what he told me.

"It is completely original except for the tires and the Fizik saddle (leather with titanium rails, which at the time of purchase was half the cost of what i am asking for the bike). It has Suntour Symetric friction shifters, old Mavic MA 2 rim (rare) on the rear, with a Wolber Gentleman 81 Super Champion rim (even more rare) on the front. It has a Maillard rear hub and cassette, and a Maillard front hub. It also is equipped with a Guidons Philippe drop bar, Nervar cranks, Spidel skewers, front and rear Suntour ARX derailleurs, a CTA stem, and the original Laprade seat post. Bike rides really nice, straight and fast."

Is this bike worth the 300.00? I'm asking for a friend who is looking for a nicer classic road bike that he will ride very often. I looked up the Mavic MA2 rim and found just one rim selling for 50.00.

Thank you very much!

-Eric

I would offer 200$ tops. It is a very nice bike but in the 300$ price range you can find a more standard parts japanese bicycle.

Good luck.

If it's going to be a rider, $125.00 tops. I don't see it going for much more on ebay.

Hmm, really? I guess he'll have to offer much less. I'm thinking 200 is reasonable. I doubt it will fly, but we'll see.

Uh, I bought mine with those components (except for the swell saddle) for thirty five bucks off a craigslist ad.

Plus $75 shipping. That comes out to $200.

$200 would be about the upper range, I would think. Maybe $250, if it's in pristine condition.

That was a white hot bargain, and doesn't indicate that the market value of the bike is $35.

All the eBay action happens in the last minute of the auction though (shh, don't tell the newbies, it's fun to watch them think they're winning with their $1 increment bids.). Still, worth watching and putting in a last-10 seconds bid if the price is right.

Closed at $75, plus $65 shipping. so figure its market value is $140.

I sold the exact same bike on craiglist last spring for $180. Had it listed for $225 a few weeks before with no bites. Mine was in really nice condition.
