Cyclo freewheel tools.....

Does anyone have one they can measure for me? I need the maximum outside dimension of the 'tangs'.

Thanks,

Jim

Do you mean the one similar to a Suntour 2 prong remover or one of the older ones? If you show a picture of your freewheel I can probably match up and measure one of my collection.

Its an old early 70's Cyclo. My 'more modern' Suntour 2-prong is too narrow. I'll get a picture later.

Cyclo 72 freewheel is measuring right at 29.0 mm maximum o.d. where the prongs would fit...
and they should be less than 7.0 mm wide.

Prongs of a recommended French tool the VAR #188 measure 28.57 mm o.d. and only 5.22 mm wide.

VAR 188 & Cyclo 72 freewheel

Park FR-2 beside the Var 188 for size comparison

It has been a long time since I used this particular tool, but I remember that it was a very difficult removal. The 'tangs' do not fit in very deeply, allowing the freewheel to slip out easily. Definitely use a quick release skewer to axle nut to hold the freewheel remover on while removing.
