Help needed: What bike is this?
12 Attachment(s)
Hi everybody,
I have been given this bike by my uncle and I would like to know more about it. I know it is a very good bike and that it was very expensive when it was bought. I think it is from the 80ies, but I am not sure. It is a look carbon/kevlar frame. On the wheels it says Record Pave. On all the `itemsī it says Brev Int. Campagnolo. If anybody has an idea of the value that would be interesting to know as well. Thanks, Peter |
Maybe a Graftech, an early carbon frame?
|
I believe it is just what the bike says....Look Carbon.

If you don't know already, you may get a little distain on here, especially asking for value. Most of use cringe at this kind of thread. That said, you are one lucky ba$tard. A later generation C-record group (circa 1988-1990) (the best) apparently complete and in good condition on a high end look very early carbon frame. That is a museum quality bicycle and I personally would hang it on the wall of my house to marvel at. It's incredble. In these uncertain times it's pretty much impossible to but a value on it. in the last five years it may have been worth nothing to as much as $2500 on ebay. Right now I dare say it would likely go for somewhere between $1000-1500. But like I said, pretty much impossible to pin down a value. If you are not a cycling enthusiast I would suggest you ask about $1000 for it and try and sell it at that fixed price to a deserving collector.

PS: you are one very lucky person |
Thanks!
Hi everybody!,
I really appreciate your help. I have decided to sell the bike and I advertsing it on ebay. If any of you are interested you can check it out on: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=270287421471 Thanks, Peter |
I'd check with the uncle and see if he wants a cut from the bike that he paid for
|
Just another reason I now refuse to answer the 'whats this worth?' threads.
Marty. |
so why did uncle give you this bike if you were not going to appreciate it?

hey, at least he posted a batch of pictures. Although I'm not sure why anyone gave him prices. Somebody should start an appraisal service so we can refer people like this to them.

This is exactly why these sorts of threads are hated. Urgh.

$500 for shipping!!!!!
|
Now it says $50 for shipping to the US. Which, I cringe to think of what kind of a packing job it will be to get this bike to the US for $50!! Maybe as smuggled down in the hold of some tramp freighter?
|
also his ebay ad is missing some vital info, like size. . .
|
I wonder if would ship it to Lagos, Nigeria. I have some business acquaintances there.
|
peter / eugen, you can go to hell.
Mods please remove this post. Unless "peter" wants to pay the site for the ad space. |
I particularly like how he posted it on eBay a week ago, nobody bid on it, so he brought this thread back here hoping that someone would buy it.
Notice the time gap between his second post, and the one right before it. oct 12th and then today, the 20th. |
Hmm, first time ebayer, out of the country........ this whole deal smells. At least he doesn't used a twisted sort of Nigerian English.
And my apologies to Peter as explained below. However, one can't be too cautious with all the scams out there. |

Hi all,
It has just been brought to my attention that I have violated some rules in this forum. I do think that you are judging really quickly. All I can say is that I do not have any bad intentions and if it is not allowed to insert a link, pls. remove it. And Ruben yes I did come back after one week to thank the people who helped me (some would call it the propper way to behave). And yes I did include a link if someone were interested. In my world there is nothing evil in that. Regarding the cost of shipping, it is my first time on ebay and I got tired with inserting all the data - so I made an estimate. Regarding my uncle- he is no longer with us and that is why I got his bike. And you guys are right I do not appreciate this bike for what it is and when I discovered the value, I decided why not try and put it up for sale on ebay. So again I have not had any bad intentions and I appologize if I have broken any rules. However, I also ask for you not to judge people too quickly. Kind regards, Peter (the one who just been hung by public opinion!) |
A little advice for selling on eBay Peter. You will draw more interest if you don't start the bidding at the price you want. If you want $1500.00 use that as a reserve and start the bids much lower, at say $100.00. Or use the buy it now option.
You have to understand there many collectors on this forum and they get tired of a "what is it worth thread" only to profit from their advice. Perhaps that will better explain the harshness at times. |
