Now wait a minute--if it was not for the locals, she would still have the Bianchi sitting in her garage, correct?

They are just jealous because that Nishiki looks great! I need to stop by and see it in person now that it's done.

I sure was enjoying the guilt trip, though. :D Of course we're jealous. That's why Bianchi's are green.

well not too sure about the garage... but at least it would still be sitting in my dinning room waiting to be riden... Ya I love the little Nishiki it is one smooth ride.... I just need to get in bette shape so I can take it out for real rides.... I huff and puff right now... so give me a little time to get back into shape here.... then we can go riding.

And well robbie you know there is something to be said for keeping it local, I am horrible at putting stuff in the mail.

Beautiful bike but please please take off the dork disk.

bmaxwell 11-12-08 07:54 AM

dork disk is a tribute to the bianchi that it was on originally.....

bmaxwell 11-12-08 07:56 AM

besides what wrong with my dork disk?

rhm 11-12-08 08:17 AM

Okay, for everyone who likes that Nishiki, I have a very similar frame with wheels and trashed fork if anyone wants to pay for shipping, or pick it up in person (between Philadelphia and NYC). Includes shifters and front derailleur and a few other parts....

bmaxwell 11-12-08 08:23 AM

rhm, how did you trash the fork? Inquiring minds want to know.

I took the bike out of a dumpster because someone had upgraded the rear derailleur to a Suntour Cyclone Mark II. The crank was trashed but I saved the chain rings. The pedals were nice, too. The damage to the fork appears to have been done with a hacksaw, and was clearly not done with a view of improving the bike. Yes, I know: the mind boggles!

bmaxwell 11-12-08 08:32 AM

so the intent was to abuse the poor bike. That just sucks, is it a nishiki? what size frame is it and what color? Not that I am interested in it, but you never know who else might be.

hhabca 11-12-08 08:39 AM

I remember when you first asked about doing this a month or two back - good to see it got done and I think it looks great! The Nishiki is a nice frame, and it fits, so forget about the Bianchi and ride the bike you built.

(oh, and I think the chain length is OK - you should never be in the big/big combo, so as long as it doesn't bind in that odd gear combination you're OK.)

bmaxwell 11-12-08 08:45 AM

Ya that is how it was built to be, and the first pic has it in the big almost big combo so it was not left or has not been on the big big combo. I just took the pick when it was on the big not the small, the second pic looks a lot better.

And thanks to all for the comments here, I have started riding this beautiful bike and love it. I have a LONG way to go to get back into riding shape, but I will get there.

Yes, a Nishiki Olympic or Olympic 12, a little bigger than yours --does that make it a 20 or 21? I'd have to measure. It's a dark color I can't see, which probably means it's like a burgundy or something. Not blue or yellow, I can see those!

bmaxwell 11-12-08 09:04 AM

start another thread and offer it up, I bet someond would take you up on the offer. And a great dumpster find.
