What happens when?...
You combine a Nishiki Olympic 12 with a Bianchi Veloce? You get this.... Thanks to East Hill for the Nishiki Frame and MTNWKR for the help building this new bike.... it is fantastic.

Pretty Pretty.
May want to check that chain length out. I like the mix of components with a nice frame like that, and I really dig the tires. |
ya the chain is tight... and the tires are still needing to be changed out... so there is a little still to do... it will get done soon enough
|
Wow, nice bike. I wish I could find a Nishiki frame (25") to repair the 84 Oly 12 I crashed in February. For now I plan on doing a similar kind of transplant with the components from the Nishiki onto a frame from a 23" 1984 Schwinn World Sport.... but I've had the Olympic 12 since it was new and it kind of breaks my heart to think I won't have a Kawamura-built frame anymore....
I like the job you've done, and don't worry 'bout that chain; I understand that's the new fashion trend. ;) |
But the pretty celeste color is gone :(
Actually that is a really nice build you have there. How hard was it putting the modern components on? I am about to do the same to my 85 bianchi and would like to know the bumps in the road ahead of time. |
Watch out for that big-big combo, the chain wont reach! When you get the FD clamp, pick up a new chain and we'll swap it out so you will be covered.
|
What tires are those, out of curiosity?
-Kurt |
Not too many bumps really, a few odd sized screws, cable stops, and right now its running a vintage 600fd till she gets a clamp for her campy braze-on Fd. Went together pretty easy actually.
|
uuummm bumps, were the brakes going from 27's to 700's I had to order some special extra long reach brakes, they are tektro 800 A's they had the proper bolt patern for the older frame... not a recessed bolt like the newer frames take. The brakes were $18.00 online. I had to find a clamp on FD but that will be swapped soon with a clampon braze-on so I can attach my campi FD the rear had to be spread a tad, but not so bad that I had to get it cold set. The cables were shorter as well since I went to a signifigantly smaller frame size. uuuummmmm Mntwkr help me out here what have I forgotten?
oh I had to find some screws that were the right size they were scrounged up at the old bike shop downtown they had them in the extra bin in the back. I bought the brakes the seat post and bar tape... I think that is all I had to purchase the rest was either from the bianchi or mtnwkr had them in his pile-o-stuff. oh and I will be trading out the tires soon... the celeste just don't match... Again thank- you mtnwkr and east hill |
thats not the big big its big and next to big
|
;)
|
the tires that are on it now are celeste michelin axial supercomps.. they are 700x23
|
|
But that Bianchi looks so nice! What prompted the switch? Too big? |
So, is it a Biancki or a Nishichi?
|
Nishianci I think is what it is.
The bianchi was way too big... look at the pics between the two there is a huge size difference. My plan is to get another italian frame to put the campi gruppo on... that will be someday. |
You must be a little person! (like EH! :p )
|
I am a little taller than she is... i am at 5'4" the guy who bought the bianchi frame was 5'10" and the frame was perfect for him...
|
 ....You guys did a great job!
East Hill |
thanks east hill it was all made possible because of you
|
So what are you gonna do with the bianchi frame?:innocent:It would sure look nice with my record stuff on it.
|
bianchi frame got sold a couple of weeks ago... sorry...
btw how much would you have paid.... or do I even want to open that can of worms? You know tha aaahhh man I got ripped off can of worms. |
How bout 2x what you sold it for. The last frame I bought was a Specialized Epic carbon fiber tubes $40. I was looking for an Italian frame when I found that.
|
ok ok ok so I got a lot more than that for my frame... now I don't feel so bad.
