A massive edit (exodus) of my collection...
 

I have been working on letting some of my bikes go for too many reasons to really get into. I have already placed 6 of them and it has actually felt pretty good, fair money, great new owners and I have 7 more that I have all but sold and now I am down to 8. I really need to make it less than 8 but I don't know which ones to let go.

- Early 60's Cinelli SC

- 74 Italian Masi GC

- 80 Bianchi Super Leggera (not celeste anymore, but chrome is great and it has all very nice original parts)

- 83 Bianchi Campione D' Italia (all there, but Tre-tubi)

- 82 Colnago Super (Saronni Red)

- 86 Slurpee Team bike (Murray, tdf lugs, Columbus SL/KL mix)

- 82 Billato built "Velo Sport" (SL, New Paint)

- 86 Proctor/Townsend (Reynolds 531, new cream paint, fork need fixing, takes fenders)


They all fit.

The smart edit would be to 5 bikes, letting the Proctor, Bianchi C D' I, and Billato go.


What would you keep?

naw... the Masi can come to me.... I would take real good care of it :D just kidding how can you be thinking of getting rid of any of them, they all sound wonderful.

Well, my business is slooowww, we might be selling our too large place in the spring and getting something smaller and honestly I want to just ride the ones I have, and I have too many.

where do you live? and what type of business that is being slow?

Interesting to see a Proctor on the list - is this a builder in Canada? I once had a room-mate in Edmonton who had one of these, back over 20 years ago now, and I think it was built in Alberta, or somewhere in the west - is this the same Proctor?

All the of the bikes on that list I'd have a hard time giving up, but if you've had your time with them then I guess letting them go is good. I'd keep the Cinelli and the Masi as investments and keep the Colnago or one of the Bianchi's as a rider. If the Proctor is a 57-58 frame...well maybe I shouldn't be tempted.;)

I'm a photographer, mainly advertising, and consumers aren't spending money, so the advertisers aren't supporting my bike addiction.....

Yes, from Edmonton, I have two, they are very nice... one IS a 57 seat 58 top ctc...

photography is a tough gig to make a living at in the best of times... so kudos to you for having made it as long as you have.

and good luck with the bikes... it must be tough to look at selling that selection you have... that is an impressive ensemble that you have.

I slept on it and I have decided to get it down to six ...

- Cinelli SC - L'Eroica build

- Bianchi Super Leggera

- Colnago - Retro Rod build

- Masi - mainly period correct rider

- Serotta/Murray - Take off Dura Ace 7400 Group build up with Super Record

- Billato/Velo Sport - Build up with Dura Ace from Serotta

and there you have it.... good job and good luck getting the others sold for the prices they deserve.

You might regret selling the Proctor although they are much sought after bikes here and finding a buyer would not be difficult.

I too am in Edmonton.

Saw breaking Away for the 1st time last August. I realy want a red Masi. Thay go 60 miles an hour .

It pains me to see you stuck with that Colnago. To think of a fellow cyclist forced to ride such a roach coach is unthinkable.

Fortunatley, I have no shame or standards, and would be willing to relieve you of this terrible burden.

Damn, and I was gonna offer to keep the slurpee bike for you.

i'd definitely keep the Cinelli, the Masi and probably the Colnago and one of the Bianchis.

I have to guess that many folks here have not seen the nice work that Proctor out into his road bikes... I just built one up for a fellow here and the workmanship was first rate and the bike is a dream to ride.

And stealing them is just such a risk. :notamused:

After reading your post and drooling over your list of bikes you might sell, I realized I have a similiar problem at the other end of the spectrum. Should I sell the Raleigh Record, the Free Spirit FS 12, or the Huffy Ironman.:D
On a more serious note, is your Bianchi color Celeste?
