Put it back up on cl for $200, and advertise it as "Already cleaned up by shaving off unnecessary braze-ons and cable stops."

Bummer it's damaged, but can't we stop crying about spilled milk? It's still a very pretty frame, even with the damage. In the end, the damage is part of the aging process of this particular frame, but nothing to be ashamed of (except for you, Drew, if you're reading this thread, and I hope your ears are burning). I would not touch the damage; just mount a cable stop to the remaining shifter mount and run the bike with an internally geared hub.

Now we've got the Noun: a Drew
We've got the adjective: a Drewed bike
We've got the verb: Don't Drew the bike, you moron!
A more active noun: He's a Drewer
A derivative: That bike's a Drewby, or that SS/FG poster is a Drewby.

We just need the bumper sticker: Don't be a Drew.
And to anyone who hacks up a perfectly good vintage frame to make a frankenbike fixie: "Drew you!"

If you haven't cut anything off, then no it's not a Drew. I think I see a hanger but can't be sure
from the photo. What did you use on the shifter bosses?

I see track dropouts. I think.

Why would there be track dropouts on a bike with shifter bosses, a FD mount, and a RD cable guide?

Could be a Drew-job. Could be a real bad one.

looks to me like new ends, bad paint match. may as well remove all of the other doodads, if the ends are changed.

I think we should butcher all tommasinis. Every one. When you find one, cut something off. They are a complete affront to the fixie nation.

but wait for me to set just one aside first...

I don't think he's a Drew, the bike looks pretty clean. A close-up of the dropouts would be nice.

But maybe the rolled-up pant-leg is a little Fred.
(But I do it every day, so no offence meant!)

If someone butchered a Tomassini by yanking off the original dropouts and putting on track dropouts, he is King Of The Drews.

An unmolested Tomassini frame set would have fetched enough Drew-bucks to buy 2 or three real track frames, would have been easier to do, and would look a whole lot better than a road bike frame Frankenstien.

A conversion like this makes no sense, on any level.

I'm not sure why you think someone who wants a fixed gear road bike should buy "real track frames" instead. They're really quite different. Personally, I'd prefer road geometry and brakes for my non-track fixed-gear.

That being said, I also don't get why one would bother to convert horizontal dropouts to track ends, kinda pointless unless you're going to be racing the thing on the track. Which you wouldn't want to do anyway.

+1

there are specific frames designed for specific usage.
a Tommasini ROAD frame IMO should not be stripped of its soul and converted into a SS/FG . and especially NOT (drew'ed) hacked with a hammer or whatever method to remove any parts . this IMO would include , tips/dropouts/rackmounts/cable guides /shifter braze-ons .

the above Tommasini that poster " woodchuck69" is holding up in the air is screaming for a life with a Campagnolo group on it ! it would be 10 times the bike it is now .

Cheers

Boy, it sure looks like someone Drewed on some track dropouts to a road frame. That frame/fork sells for $2.6k.

At least he looks real proud!

Oh, that is definitely a Drew! I'm going to close my eyes and go to a happy place....a place where bikes get to keep their original dropouts and rattle cans are shunned by chromed stays.

maybe what they really want is a road/path...but that would just cause their heads to explode: track ends with...fenders and a ...lantern???
No, these are the same people who think a track bike needs a carbon-fiber spokie front wheel (but only in the front), and a bunch of postcards in the spokes of the rear wheel, and a chopped-down mtn. bike riser bar with squishy Oury grips...look Ma, I'm ready for my cappuccino!

It is a road frame that has been torched and re-brazed with track dropouts (note the cheap joint between the stays and dropout - no filing, no nothing) as Luker spotted, complete with a pair of stays crudely repainted (over chrome) to match the rest.

However, as it is a new frame though that is still in production, does that constitute a Drew? Yes, doing that track conversion bit may be stupid, but unlike a typical C&V machine (wherein replacement is not an option), new examples are presently being produced to "replace" those that have been subject to Drewbies. Thoughts? Opinions?

Why are we so fast to jump to conclusions? For all we know, the frame may be repaired after something happened to it.
