Located a 1976 Superior...
I could not walk away from this 26" Red frame - http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...IMGP1553-1.jpg
Badge date code = 0346, serial number EK801008 The frame, paint and decals all appear to be in good shape. The front forks may have been replaced or repaired, as I found paint on the crown, and underneath indicating some touch up was done. The forks match, but missing the band decal at chrome tip junction. http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1563.jpg The front brake lever is broken and will require replacing - http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1557.jpg I have not had much experience (none) with 3 piece cranks, (Nervar), can I find the crank end cover, missing right side - http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1555.jpg The bar tape will require replacement, this was BLACK originally correct? http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1556.jpg Huret down tube shifters will require some getting use to, as I have used stem mount for a long time. http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1564.jpg Decals are good - http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1560.jpg http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1561.jpg http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/IMGP1562.jpg Also, hoods are a little rough and the pedals (Atom 440) as well, have not examined these close up as of yet Noticed the rear drop out is marked Huret. a friend pointed out that his Super sport had these dropouts, used for 74 built frames? Was disappointed in the seat, appears original. I did not think Brooks B15 were applied to this model, or was it? Thanks for reviewing. |
Pic links don't work.....

Very nice! You now have a great American built bike. Yes there were better, but this is a real keeper and the last of the Schwinn fillet brazed line! Thanks for posting the pictures.

Yeah, nice score.
The bar tape was probably metallic red. |

The bar tape was probably metallic red. I inspected it closer today, removed the added kick stand, some paint work will be required on the underside, true rear wheel and remove rust or hard grime from several spokes. Mounted on my make shift bike stand, checked out the derailleurs, the LeTour GT300 is very smooth, front will require a little adjustment, as it is low and the chain rubs when set on large front, large rear, (a setting I rarely ever use on my 80 Conti.) but should not occur. Thanks for the appreciation, it was hard to explain to wife why I brought this home, since my 73 SuperSport was to be last project bike this year, (it is almost done!) |
