Could someone please tell me exactly what this pin [circled in Red] is for. It appears to be something associated with the toe clip strap.

The toe clip strap is routed above it. It might be to keep the strap clear/away from the crank arm.

Thanks. That was my best guess.

The toe clip straps on my rattrap pedals keep hitting the crank arms so that would probably be a useful feature.
