Ciocc Question

Does anyone know anything about Ciocc replica bikes? When were they made, what models, etc? I am looking at a Ciocc model Designer 84 and there are no serial numbers or identification on the bike in spite of the fact that it shows very little wear. Are no serial number markings typical of Ciocc bikes?

I can't speak for Ciocc, in particular, but with the exception of my Cinelli and Merckx's, none of the other Italian bikes I've owned had any more than perhaps a size stamped on them.

Yes, my Ciocc only has a "60" stamped into the BB and nothing else. I know it is a Ciocc because of the embossed seat stays and the BB has the clover cut-out.

There was an eBay auction a few months ago for a Ciocc that the seller called a reproduction and it was a matte black colour with white decals. I believe that the bike was produced in 2002----at least, that is what the seller said in the listing. I don't remember much else, sorry.

There is an eBay seller in Germany who sells NOS Cioccs, maybe you could email him? He always has a few listed and they are in such good shape that they almost look like reproductions; or maybe they are?

mine also has just the frame size stamped on the underside BB shell.

Last I heard, Ciocc bikes are still being made....have a look at www.ciocc.it/home-page.html .

Hrm, I knew that they were still around but I see one 2009 reproduction bike on that front page but cannot find it on the site. It looks beautiful, can anyone see more information on the site about it? My Italian is....poor.

I asked the man himself (Giovanni Pellizoli) this week when I was in his shop. We're restoring an early 70's Ciöcc. He never put serial numbers on his frames. I asked him why not - "because everyone else was putting them on, so I decided not to!"

ps - first post!
