Did I ride today, the title asks. Well, yes, in a manner of speaking. Still riding, in a manner of speaking. Stuck on a train at the TM BWI station, engine has a "bad wheel", so we're waiting for a "rescue engine". We have only 8 hours to go once we start up again. If the ride today is anything like the ride on Wednesday we'll be home 11 hours from now. This is so much fun...

First time outside on the bike in almost 3 weeks.
It snowed overnight for the first time this fall. It made for some beautiful riding as I rode up the Snoqualmie Valley Trail twords Rattlesnake Lake.

I got 'first tracks'

It was only a short ride though on my "Sno Eddy"

I had to turn back when the snow got so deep that my front wheel kept washing out.

Beautiful pics!

We'll have to find you a fat tire sled if it keeps snowing out there.

Nice pics Northbend and 71, love seeing pics of the west.

I did quick 40 around the Shore (Kirk Frameworks pic heavy). Swapped out the carbon saddle...so much better with the Fizik.

Offered some Co2 to a group in need and saw this steel beauty.

A couple of pics from the long weekend:

Thanksgiving; 30 degrees, light snow in Scituate RI while the bird was in the oven.

Sunday; 55 degrees, a little windy in Coventry RI

I put the De Rosa and sew ups to bed for the winter. 100 miles on the Dawes since Thursday.

I love the pink and black bike @Vonruden!

While tk1971 and whatwolf were riding (and taking great photos) in the sunshine in the southern part of the Golden State I was dodging raindrops here in the north.

Climbing into the fog on Marin's Mt. Tamalpais:

Wow! All my friends in the Bay area ride Tam regularly but they never make it look that nice! I'm so jealous of all the nice riding you guys have up there. All these bumpy rocks are taking their toll and the sand means I have to overhaul my cross bike like once a week!

Ok, if the orthopedic surgeon or my wife sees these photos I'm dead....dead.....dead. The surgeon says I can ride on an indoor trainer (shoulder surgery last Monday). I've got 95% range of motion. The indoor trainer is nice and all but it's not the same as riding outside. I haven't been out on a ride since Oct 25th so today - even with a sunny, balmy 27 degrees F - I decided to bag the trainer. I grabbed the tank for a slow ride. The ground is frozen and traffic is always light. It was a very short ride - 8 miles. But, I was outside, breathing some fresh air and dreaming of another couple of weeks when I can take off for a further ride. And, yes, I am taking it easy. That's why I took the slow bike.

"The Tank"

This American Life on NPR had a segment on attacking turkeys… Dangerous.
And Ben Franklin wanted that to be the national bird.

I had to do it. Was going stir crazy. It won't be a regular thing but may happen a few more times as I'm still trying to be very careful with lifting things, etc. Stitches are out tomorrow so that's progress.

The turkeys hardly moved when I went by. The tom in the group just clucked a couple of times at me.

That looks like fun! How do you keep the snow from building up in your cleats?
