Finally exercised the Mexico for the first time in a long while; I swear this bike steers itself!
Low 80s here today, and not too much of a breeze to cool one off. Scale says I lost 5lbs in water weight today

Not really C&V, although I rode my AO8 over, but I was marshalling at a MTB event last weekend. I was at a point halfway up Cheddar Gorge where the course came off the Mendip plateau and went down a very steep rocky gully before turning onto the road up the gorge. Great fun - all the riders were happy to stop when asked at the top of the gully and the road crossing - with a few frightening moments as some of them came off in a big way heading down the gully. Just one injury - apart from quite a few cuts and grazes - what looked like a broken hand although the rider picked himself up and headed onwards. Tough cookies these mountain bikers!
Nice day out in the sun, and I got a free cooked breakfast and mug of tea. Not many pictures though as I was quite busy.

Haven't done a proper longer ride all year, so today I took advantage of the cooler temperatures and took the SLT out for 61 miles and 4k of climbing.
Felt pretty good overall, aside from the last hour where my neck and upper back were not very happy at all.

Took a ride today in the deep south of The Netherlands: Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, directly bordering on Belgium. Beautiful coastal area with lots of nature and the sea-view. The Giant Cadex CFR3 did a very good job. Brought me all the way to Knokke-Heist (BE).

mruneedahelmet maybe one of the more interesting backdrops for a pic in this thread.
Took advantage of a gorgeous 75 degree, low humidity day to get 30 miles of mostly gravel roads on the Velo Orange. Also maiden voyage of my new gugificazione! Decaleur. My goal was to ride a mostly known road (Break Heart Road - yes it’s hilly!) out to its end at the base of the Blue Ridge where goggle maps shows another road connecting up to other known routes. I expected it would be most likely hiking or MTB trail quality but you never know til you try. Anyway, I missed a turn and ended up on the road to Sugar Hollow reservoir , so decided to ride on up there a see the sights before retracing my steps. I went back, made the turn and followed Break Heart road until it was mostly soft red clay and rocks before deciding I either missed the mystery trail or when I found it, likely would be worse than what I was on, which was barely rideable road. Anyway, as I often tell my kids, if you have low expectations, you’ll rarely be disappointed.

I took my '51 Sun Wasp out for a short ride last night along the Ottawa River pathway. 700c Velocity wheelset with a four-speed hub in the back and a Maillard 700 hub up front. The DB 531 frame makes for a nice ride along these asphalt paths. It was a very pleasant evening with lots of cyclists about. I'll grab some shots of the actual river next time. Its off to the north a bit.

My son and I got out on the mountain bikes up to Lord Hill the other day. Only about seven miles, but close to a 2000' of uphill. It's a very good trail system that's only 15-20 minutes from home.

Rode on the supposedly-closed West Lake Sammamish Boulevard down to Issaquah, even though it was 85+. Took the Colnago, but not the camera (it's kinda on the fritz right now after being dropped a couple weeks ago during a ride). No matter; a local news crew inadvertently caught me in my GS Ferrari jersey at the XXX Rootbeer where I was beating the heat with a rootbeer float

More fixed gear riding this morning. Did a couple of laps around one of the local airports frequented by cyclists in the area. Mostly rolling terrain and I ended up averaging a little over 17mph for 18 miles.
Also so foggy that myself and my bike were pretty wet by the end.
Made for a neat picture though!

With a predicted heat index approaching 100degF I was foolish enough to take the PF10 out for a spin this morning. The idea was to put down some quick miles before the temperature and humidity got too high and the predicted 26mph wind gusts started. I started at 7:40 this morning, early for me. I left directly from home in Waltham, rode out to Ferns in Carlisle Center, took a slightly different route through Lincoln back to Waltham, for a total of 34.45 miles. The return became brutal and then brutaler. Headwinds keep you cool but they make you work for forward progress! I arrived home safely but tired, water bottle empty, lunch and snack larder empty, tires still full of air, all three sewup spares unused. and with no bike paint harmed in the making of this movie. Traffic was light at the start but picked up. I was passed by a Ferrari and Pontiac Trans Am seemingly running together, and a number of cyclists seemingly with more energy than I possessed. I managed to pass one or two cyclists. I haven't slowed down but everyone else sure seems faster than they used to be.

My ride this morning was quite close to you, Jim. We went out to Verrill Farm in Concord/Sudbury through Weston and Lincoln for breakfast sandwiches and back via some dirt paths and then Tower Road in Lincoln/Weston.

Rode to UW a few days ago and boiled. Its worse today, so got out early. Onshore wind from Seattle must be 90 degrees already at 10 AM. Awful. 108 degrees tomorrow, will be riding the sofa all day.

Packing water shoes, towel and a cold beverage, it’s an easy 5 miles on the rail-trail from the house up to Rattlesnake Lake.

Well done! I have my generator light set, going out late. Even my E WA roots don't help at this level. I am chugging a liter of fluids per ten miles of ride. Not fun

Anyway, I ended up riding from 1300 to 1700, getting as far south as Seattle and as far west as Golden Gardens Park. Yeah, it was a tiny bit warm
Think I'll rest up tonight for another go in tomorrow's even hotter temps! It's good training for the heat I'm expecting at Cino in August.

Kind of concerned about Cino. I roasted on 9 mile hill a few years ago, scary level roasted. Heat stroke is real
