The rides you post here are just incredible! I would think you need to be pretty mindful of traffic on those roads, being as curvy and narrow as they are. Are they well-traveled by motor vehicles?

Here are three pictures I took on this morning's ride. We rode up north of Burkittsville and turned around to make the return trip. The trip out took an hour and the trip back took only 35 minutes. I guess, going downhill helps.

Looks like a lot of good miles for lots of folks this weekend! Nice reports all.

My pics aren't as spectacular but they mean a lot to us. 62.6 miles, our first metric century on the tandem. After yesterday's hall pass to ride the Masi I had to oblige my better half in one of her new goals!

Talked to some nice folks about old bikes in general. Met a guy at the end of the ride on a '79 Motobecane Grand Tour. At Fern's in Carlisle, a favorite cyclists' lunch stop, there were four Lemonds in the racks, and another guy rode up on a steel Serotta.

Also lots of tandems. At one point we were passed simultaneously by tandems going both directions. (I guess we were the slowest of the bunch!)

I have family in Austin, San Antonio, and Kerrville.

I've biked several times around the area, including the Medina Loop most recently.

Great scenery, some crazy hills and lots of great food for your efforts at local restaurants.

Especially BBQ.

Thanks! Those tops are what we have, so they match all the time! High-SPF cycling jerseys from Coolibar. They, umm, don't have writing on them, so I feel like I'm not quite playing the game right. But they do have superb reflective stripes! We were wondering, what is OCD? I can think of a lot of possibilities...

No, you're doing it exactly right - no logos, just simple utility. I've gone the same way in the past few years; got rid of all the team kit and am doing blacks/whites or a combo of the same. Matches everything, hence OCD: obsessive compulsive disorder

Thanks mate my rides up in the hills don't have to much traffic, it's much safer than around town too because there's so many cyclists up in the hills car driver seem to expect us there so have a little more respect for us. Also were there's down hills a bike is just as fast or faster than a car.

It has been raining most of the day so I opted to putter in the shop and tweak out a few things and now the clouds have cleared and the sun is blazing down so we'll see where the road takes me and what bike I will take...

I rode for a few hours around the upper and lower Snoqualmie Valleys today.
I was thinking today that the lower valley would make a great C&V group ride location. It's flat, scenic, and very bike friendly...

I spent a long weekend at our house in the Catskills, and yesterday took the family for a ride on the Catskill Scenic trail, which starts just three miles from our house.

Awesome rail trail-- 26 miles of hard pack gravel trail through stunning farmland-- literally, right through farms.

southpaw, I live in the town of North Bend in Washington State hence the handle "northbend'. It is a great area for riding.

The first picture was taken less than 2 miles from my home. It is a view of Mt. Si.

I love that picture of your two kids riding side by side. Pure bliss riding with your kids isn't it?

i have tons more from my bikes and hikes on the Skyline and Shenandoah Appalachian trail. It was a good weekend.

On Sunday, I rode our club's Two County Double Metric Mile ride. There was a 23, 32, 76, 105, and 126 mile loop. I rode the 32 mile loop, but I missed a turn so I rode 36 miles. I hope the club does not charge me extra.

This is the first time since I was 16 or 17 that I rode that distance on a bike--almost 30 years ago.

Definitely felt it in my wrists riding my commuter that long. Knees and thighs are still complaining, but I had a blast.

I had been thinking I would try to persuade another member to ride with me, but I also didn't want to throw off someone else's cadence. I just went for it. Saw a few riders. Passed a few near the end who had ridden the 76 mile loop after the loops converged.

It was only 5 or 6 weeks ago that I first rode the 10-15 mile Sunday Leisure Ride and found that wore me out.

Congratulations. It's amazing you've gone from 15 miles to 36 miles in only a few weeks time. It's taken me 3 years to get to 70 miles. You'll be doing double centuries before you know it.

Very nice Walt! I'd love to ride the Skyline Drive one of these days, but the congestion would keeps me away from doing it. I guess mid-week rides in the winter may be the best time to plan a trip there.
