We should ride together some time. Send a PM if you like. BUT I have had all the 38deg rides I really need this past winter so I prefer waiting til it warms up a bit now.

It's not exactly Paris, but April in the polders can be pretty nice as well. Today's after-dinner ride:

Weather sorta cleared up, with 50 degree temps. So I rode out to the town of Index and back, about 75 miles and 4500 ft of elevation. It was supposed to be a longer route, but I was short on time.

RogerM, nice pics! What kind of tires do you use for that last one? Big balloon tires?
I just rode my commute again today.

fixed this pug for a friend who had never gotten into road riding. Inaugural ride today, and it was a 30 miler! I think we have a new c&v rider! Nice easy pace -- I'd forgotten how nice that was. I'm always so caught up in racing the cars like I do on my commute.

That name sure brings back a lot of memories; Friday afternoon trips up to Stevens Pass for night skiing with my cousins; station wagon packed with six teenagers, six pairs of skis on top, stopping in at the Alpen Village for those french fries. Sultan, Index, Goldbar, that one run-down motel way out past everything that billboarded its 'Hourly Rates' and 'Closed-Circuit TV'...
It's been forever since I've been up Hwy 2.

FWIW, I don't use Hwy2 on my rides, but had to make a small exception yesterday when I ran out of time getting back.

Took a 40 miler yesterday with a mix of paved bike path, country road and some nice gravel. Got sunburnt and sick from that later that evening. But I'm feeling 100% today!
Noticed this afterwards...outline of my MKS urban platform pedal. Thought it was kind of funny.

Nice pics VR!
Today's ride included a first. I've gone over the Mississippi hundreds of times, but this was my first flat fix over the river. A scenic enough spot for a flat, but when the jets were landing it got a little loud. All was better later along White Bear Lake. 48 miles this morning, and did 73 yesterday. Trying to get in those HTFU rides now that spring is really here.

This is my grandmother's 1975 Schwinn Suburban, part of a pair she bought with my grandfather the year after I was born. She gave my grandfather's bike away when the stem bolt came loose and she thought it was broken. She gave this to me and my wife at least a decade ago. She would literally give you the shirt off her back if she felt you needed it more.
Years ago we installed a child seat and it carried my children as toddlers. Yesterday it carried my wife to my grandmother's funeral. It was a beautiful day, and it was a beautiful ride. She will always be with us, and so will the bike.

Thanks. I plan to make it a "memorial bike" and pass it around the family members this summer so they can make new memories.

^ Grandmas are pretty terrific, in my experience. Mine gave me my first 5 bicycles, in fact (Not all at the same time)
I didn't go anywhere special today, but I figured out how to use the panoramic photo function on my phone:
Up in the foothills not far from my cave:
Down on the waterfront, loading logs bound for China:
Out at the boat haven, in the section where they stack up boats for long term storage waiting either for rebuilding or scrapping. This hulk looks like it could go either way:
Another shot of the boat haven.
You can see how distorted the panoramic function is; on the first and last shot here, the overpass and trail the bike is on are both dead-straight.
