I got out and rode the local shop ride this morning, before it got too hot. Did a popular route with a "bonus" climb up High Rock road. My rear rim gave up on me, luckily after the 4 mile decent.

Not sure what happened. I thought I hit a fairly big rock in the road at about 20mph. Tire didn't pop though, so I kept riding. I noticed a pretty good wobble though, so I stopped. Anyhow, I rode another 10 miles to get home without any problems, other than having to open the brake qr.

Went on the maiden voyage of my Tommasini Sintesi on Saturday. I picked up the bike a few weeks ago and finally got it all put back together on Friday after the tear down and rebuild. Had to wait about a week for the new tires to arrive. Took it for a short (20 mile) ride which was quite enjoyable.

Great ride yesterday, I had the fortunate chance to meet with Forum members RHM, Nlerner, and TimmyT as they passed through the shore on their 300km loop. It was a pleasure to meet, ride, eat and talk bikes. I hope you finished before the real heavy rains arrived.
I regret not going with one of my vintage steeds, however with the rains I went with something a little more modern.
Sandy Hook
Lunch stop
Looking forward to the next ride.

Great pics, as usual. VR, your run with nl and rhm looks like fun.
I didn't get a chance to post where we rode today yesterday, but since today is tomorrow yesterday I'll have to post where we rode yesterday instead. We took our tandem out for 65 miles yesterday. Not today because it is raining hard now. Started from home at 8:45AM, ran through town on relatively quiet Main St, then picked up most of our usual roads. As we approached Carlisle we saw lot of parked cars, too many to be a private party someplace. I turned out to be a town activity, b-b-q, kids games, a bluegrass band playing, arts and food vendors.
In Carlisle Center we stopped for some lunch and had a nice conversation with newly-tandemized couple on a Univega they'd recently picked up on a whim.
As we started the return from Chelmsford I had reason to check out the rear wheel and found it wobbling on the axle. In another thread I've posted of trying out some moped parts, seein' as how M11 axles and bearing cones aren't easy to find. I wondered if I'd mis-assembled the hub but didn't think so. We were still 30 miles from home with no option but to keep riding. It held together for the rest of the day. But when I took it apart I found this on both sides:
This amount of wear occurred in just 65 miles, but the observable wobble had started long before. So that solution isn't going to work (and I wonder how well those parts would work out for their intended use as a moped front axle set). At least the work was relaxing and the beer was good.

Nice pics as well Jim, sorry to see your troubles with the wheel.
I'm always jealous of NB's scenery, stunning as usual.

Here's a pic of the C&V action ridden by (from left to right) @TimmyT (Nigel Dean), me (1994 Bridgestone RB-T), and @rhm (Holdsworth 650B conversion). Fenders were definitely required for yesterday's ride and so were lights given that we started at 4:15 a.m.

Alas, we did not complete the entire 300k but instead decided that riding for several hours in torrential downpour after we would have already done 140 miles wouldn't have been much fun. So we topped at at about 150 miles and only rode for one hour in somewhat of a downpour!

We honeymooned in the San Juan islands, and when I was there I wished we had the bikes along...
Today I led my spin class at the local Y for an hour, then headed out for a 37 mile ride on the Roberts. No particular place to go, but a fun ride nonetheless...

The brand new Brown's creek trail
Decided to turn for home when I noticed this was heading in, and just barely beat a downpour.

This thread is my fave. Always lurking but rarely posting. Looking at Pete's pics above and the sky is becoming the norm.
Seem's just about everyday I'm getting wet. Though strangely the light rain is welcoming. No pics but my faux BiC has been christened twice in two days. It figures, forecast for the week is more rain.

Went looking for a specific trail today off the island of Montreal and ended up on the Grand Prix track on Ile Notre Dame!! Felt like I was in a race with all the roadies! I placed last on my hard-tail. Montreal is such a gem for riding. One day it's trails on the mountain, the next all bike lanes for the commute and the next an actual race friggin track. I didn't take any pics, I was having too much fun. This is about 2/3 my 25k ride today - my app conked out. As much as I love sharing the joys of my rides with you folks here and reading this thread I'd really like someone to ride with sometimes. Just sometimes though,

I rode my commute today as I do most days. Had reason to be at work earlier so I left the house 45 minutes earlier than normal. Light traffic, light mist falling. The Masi didn't seem to mind.
Two noteworthy events today, one each way. The trip in gave me a reason to test my brakes. A giant oak tree had fallen across the Minuteman Bikeway and cyclists were crawling through the shrubbery to get around it. It will be interesting to see if it has been removed by tomorrow morning.
After flying down a hill on the way home and reaching speeds over 30mph I had to swerve to avoid this. I hit the brakes, went back and picked it up so no one else would hit it:
I snapped this pic after I'd moved it off the road. I didn't want to carry it home as that seemed kinda' dangerous. I didn't want to throw it into the woods as that seemed irresponsible. I figured it should go into someone's trash. So I went up the nearest door, carefully putting the knife down on the step behind me. I didn't want to scare anyone seeing a strange man come to the door holding a knife in his hand. No one was home. I tried another house. No one was home. I wandered into a few other driveways. The houses look dark and quiet as a cloister. Ah, that house across the street has cars parked, looks to be populated, lots of junk on the porch. I had seen a utility van pulling away. I went over, noticed one door slightly ajar. Rang the bell, no answer, knocked, no answer. Looked at another door, quiet as a mousetrap. Out front were several garbage cans loaded with the detritus of home repair and painting. I tossed the knife in with that stuff, hopped on the bike and finished the ride home.
Everyday is an adventure.

I'm spending the week in Western Maine. Yesterday (Sunday) was a washout, but I got out for a bit today. I did get caught in a few light showers, nothing to worry about. Got my second flat of the season about 1/4 mile from the cabin we are staying in, so I just walked it in and repaired it when I got there.
This was my destination, the base of Saddleback ski area. The ride from town was all uphill.
This is the road heading back into town, not to far from where I flatted.

Great pics. I got out for a quick spin between everything else this evening. Went down for the first time in longer than I can remember (gotta love that slow-motion). I learned a good lesson about throwing caution and conservatism to the wind while cornering off-camber on gravel... Just a whisper before the front end let out - not much feedback near the edge on fairly coarse gravel. Lower pressure would have helped.
Need to mount fenders. Things are getting dusty.

I rode over hill, I rode over dale, I rode all the way to Hopedale!
When I ride, usually I just ride and don’t stop but for traffic issues. However I’ve realized that I do carry my phone, and therefore do have what passes for a camera. So today I thought I’d give you a glimpse of Hopedale.
For detailed history (which is actually interesting): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hopedale,_Massachusetts
For years the economic lifeblood of Hopedale was Draper Mill (which actually manufactured weaving looms). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draper_Corporation
But, to get to Hopedale:
I’d never ridden this road before, likely won’t again, either. I don’t like potholes!
This (the small building in the foreground) was the start of the Draper Mill in Hopedale:
The Draper Mill building (empty) is massive
Draper was bought by Rockwell in the mid-1960’s.
Along the way quite interesting housing was built for employees. I don’t know what the financial arrangements were, but I love the houses, even with the ugly vinyl siding many have been afflicted with.
I think I may have reached the picture limit, to be continued.

Continuing:
Then we get to management abodes:
This was the owner's digs:
It's for sale, you can check it out here: 55 Adin St, Hopedale, MA 01747 is For Sale | Zillow
The owner's horses were a pampered lot, this was the carriage house:
Street names: Freedom, Hope, Union, Progress, etc. Speaking of progress, I don't quite know what to make of this
There's a lot more in the way of duplex houses, nicely built buildings, etc, but you can probably check them out on the Hopedale website above.

Just got back from a quick little 8 mile ride through the suburbs and just barely into the country. I stopped by one of the nearby duck ponds for a courtesy photo of my '85 Fuji against the signpost (sign says "No fishing" - no kidding! In that?!? Ick... )
Anyway, I am going to double check my Forte touring seat, as it looks like it's pointed downwards just a hair. Hmmm...
