A day of full sun and temps in low 50s.
I’d call it a ‘2 bike’ ride day.
The new Gyes saddle may be a keeper.
The Bottecchia needs a new freewheel - Perfect and Ultra - sounds a solution. I’ll pray for it.

I ALMOST feel guilty posting this today knowing how much of the country is dealing with intense cold weather conditions.
But here goes anyway ;-)
Our spring like weather pattern held for another day today and I got out on the fixed gear for the 1st time this year.

I had forgotten how much I like this bike! It is quiet, simple, and fairly nimble. Being as it is fixed, the bike just jumps forward when you put the effort on.

I rode the gentle grade up twords Snoqualmie Pass on the Iron Horse Trail turning around when I hit snow about 4 miles from the Hyak Tunnel.

The trip back home was all downhill, I kept the pace just under the point of spinning out with my gearing.

Yes, so mild in Puget Sound.
Hiked yesterday so took two that had not been ridden for a bit.

Holdsworth - Harding needs a new crankset and rings. Maybe Stronlight 54/42?

No rain again so I did a 50 mile loop out to Carnation today for lunch at Sandy's Cafe.
The return home is so nice, entirely on gravel rail trail not having to worry about cars.

Not today, but yesterday. It had been about 3 months since I had jumped on my '74 Motobecane Grand Touring, so I decided to take it for a spin up to Lewisville Lake. It wasn't too cold and the wind was calm. All in all, a nice 21 mile ride.

It was going to be a bikeless SubBowlWeekend, visiting daughter near Portland,,
until I remembered the old vintage step-thru ladies/city bike.
Tires held air from last trip, 3 months ago.
Sometimes you just gotta go find your fun.

Took out the '99 Tommasini Sintesi today on a really windy day. Blowing 18-20 pretty much the whole ride so I stayed in the cover of the pines and did 28 miles while never venturing more than 3 or so miles from my house. Strava looked like spaghetti when I was done. High 50's and sunny made for a great ride. Condolences to those still battling the cold

Quick 15 mile jaunt around town today top soak up some newfound sunshine and 60 degrees. This is McCormick Observatory at University of Virginia. Short stinger climb up to this point here.

Just a morning commute, but since the very hilly area that is Seattle proper received snow yesterday and through the night (2"+ accumulated locally), everyone was faced with essentially not driving or riding down a 12-15% grade that is south Queen Anne Avenue/hill (5 bocks!). I had some brand new WTB Cross Wolf 32mm cyclocross tires that I had wheeled and dealed for, had them set for a bike for my brother (who got a MTB), but now were simple extra tires. A quick tire swap and inflation to 55/60 PSI and I was off. Gingerly. Once down the hill and onto snow that was more accommodating of two bike tires. It's going to get into the low 20s for the next four to five nights which means potentially iced-over roads. And since those roads include decent hills, it's bad news for traveling.
For now though, my ST400 continues its streak as the best winter/rain/touring bike I've owned/built. And I dig the look with knobbier tires. Why does a small part of me go "This is the gateway to dirt and gravel riding! The fenders keep the paint from getting knicked up, so you're good!"

SoCal temps in low 50s, windy but sunny. I got the Peugeot out for 17 miles up thru Porter Ranch (remember the famous SoCal gas leak?). Great day to ride, continued up thru Chatsworth park, and checked out a new sidewalk library near my home. Scored a copy of John LeCarre's "The Night Manager", which is a TV series we enjoyed a couple years ago. Also saw a pair of hunting red tail hawks, and wished I had a real camera along, not just my phone.

Took a short freezing but nice winter ride around home Fairplay CO. My recently saved ice blue Specialized just looks great against winter backdrops glad the group here convinced me to to keep it and leave it basically stock.
