Ciclosdias ride was today in San Diego. It's very liberating to ride for miles on city streets and NO CARS! :thumb:

This is becoming my new favorite ride out south of town. I've been trying to develop routes to get me out of town as fast as possible so I can spend most of my time doing more enjoyable riding (i.e. less stop and start). I only got the one photo taken before my phone battery went low. Time to start bringing the actual camera with me.

Took it for a few miles around Benderson Park in Sarasota. The wind was really wippin off the lake today. This is the first time I have ridden it since I completed it 3 months ago
It rides like a dream although if I want to do any kind of distance I will need to make some changes to the cockpit for a little more upright position. :thumb: |
Took a ride this afternoon, about 35 miles. Stopped at the town center and sat for a bit. Thanks to all who served, or are serving.

You guys are killing me. 20 degrees and snowing here, with a chance of getting above freezing by next weekend. What month is this anyway?
Did a 1 hour indoor ride last evening, and got out for my first nordic skate skiing of the season this morning. I intended to take a picture on the trail (there was beautiful hoar frost on the trees this morning), but my phone froze up. |

Put some Eroicas on my cross bike and went for a roadie ride last night. Climbs fine, but descending was pretty spooky with such a high bottom bracket and lots of wind.

I took my neighbor's Mukluk down to the river for 4 hours. Probably rode under 25 miles, but I feel like I did a century. :)

ww, VR, great pics!
We haven't managed to get out for the past few weeks, too may commitments. I tried to make up for it today. Yesterday I turned 66 but our band had to play a gig, so I rode a birthday ride today. I'd worked out a route on DeLorme TopoNAm that covered areas I'd never ridden before. Some could have been quite hilly. After the late night I wasn't sure whether I'd have the energy to pull off the ride I'd planned. Heading out into unknown territory on unknown energy is slightly scary. Plus the temperature was cold, upper 30's when I left the house at 10AM. I'm happy to say I pulled it off! I rode the Motobecane 72.2 miles, Waltham west to Bolton, northeast to Chelmsford, south then east back home. Moving average speed 14.0mph, 6hrs9min, max speed 34.0mph. Channeling my inner @JJScaliger, here's a pic of a cemetery in Sudbury: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...ryCemetery.jpg And a cemetery in Bolton, just inside I495: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...onCemetery.jpg http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...nCemetery2.jpg The run north was just west of I495. At one point a road I intend to take looked like a business access road, was signed as "private", and not a through road, leading to a Bolton recreation field. But the map had routed me that way and the road I'd been on was signed as a dead end. It seemed clear though, and I was thinkin' if I couldn't get through I might have to make a loooong detour with a hop east back over I495 which would force me to depart from my route. Fortunately the far end was blocked with a swinging gate which a bike could get around easily. Obviously "they" had intended that road to provide access from two directions without it being used as a connecting road. The day turned out cold but not uncomfortable. Much of the run was surreal, with light traffic, an overcast sky. When I was headed north with a slight tailwind all was nearly silent, the only sound the quiet whisper of Vittoria sew-ups on clean pavement. Of course the payback on ride back south was a headwind and the steady roar of air past my ears. A quick pic on the return, at Heart Pond in Chelmsford: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...nTheReturn.jpg When I got home my sweetie had a surprise birthday party waiting for me. :bday: |

Just one crappy pic from my ~30 mile loop around the east bay hills. If you look close enough, you can make out the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Wonderful riding day. Partly cloudy & mid-60s. Too bad my Mavic skewer seems to be on its last legs: Had a hard time getting enough tension to keep the rear wheel from drifting toward the nds stay. On my way home I stopped by a new shop with a Cinelli Laser track bike (among other vintage bikes from the owner's personal collection) on display, but they were closed. Have to stop in again for pics.

Found a fun single track network today. It wasn't terribly hilly so I rode the single speed MTB. Someone had recently put in a lot of work and there was a new series of pump tracks in a figure 8 shape of sorts. Infinite pump track!

Yesterday was about 40 degrees with about 15 mph winds and blue skies with sun. I rode 10 miles to meet my sister at her MD appt (cancer) and she snapped this photo of me and my Cross Check. Only bad part about the actual ride was the gravel from the recent ice we had which is now all in the bike lane! Wind storm brought down a lot of twigs, sticks and miscellaneous debris so I was extra careful. I wore a wool skirt with wool tights & socks so my legs were toasty. Had on thermal top, cashmere sweater, wool beanie, wool glove liners and wind blocker gloves. All in all it was a fantastic day for a brisk ride. Of course after the appointment I had to ride another 10 miles home, so 20 miles or so round trip.
Photos not cooperating. Hmmmmhttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=418523 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=418525 |
I did my commute again today. The ride home was cold, about 29degF with a 15mph headwind. I need warmer gloves.

There's a rain storm coming in tonight. I snuck in a ride to the Olema Valley this afternoon. We've had a little rain this year but things are still pretty dry. We can use the rain.
