I have a few pics from yesterday's gravel grind, too. Tim, Stuart and I met up at the North Bend Library parking lot and began our ride on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail (it's only about 100 meters from the library). We rode to Rattlesnake Lake on the SVT, then joined the Iron Horse/John Wayne Trail there. We got as far as Garcia before having to turn around to keep our timeline. Honestly, we didn't make it to the tunnel entrance because of me. My legs are just not "all there" these days. The rest of my body, well...never mind!

I still had a great time as it's always fun to get together with these guys. Tim had to take off shortly after we got back, but myself and Stuart got some food/beer at the North Bend Bar & Grill before parting ways. A tough but fun day out - gotta take advantage of weather like this (it made it to 88 degrees)!

I am glad you guys enjoyed the ride up the Iron Horse Trail. Y'all look great, like you're having fun. I was with my family at Rattlesnake Lake having a picnic when you snapped that one photo..we were under the trees and I can see my son's wife in your picture!

Hmmph. I just rode to work again. It was raining (again - I'm starting to think I live in Seattle) so I took the Gran Sport to which I mounted fenders this winter. The fenders increase the wind drag factor but they decrease the wife nag factor. :D

On the recent ride of 3 BF members, we need to point out the practicality of @Lascauxcaveman and his 'right C&V tool-for-the-task' approach to his fleet.

30+ miles on a rather harsh (at times) trail.

the only other way to a softer ride would be to move that rear wheel way aft of the BB/seattube. :lol:

Great pics, Jeff. You have truly captured the essence of that trail, the surface, the light, the views etc. With the gentle grade and and uniform surface, it's an all time great ride on a nice day. Always interesting to go up a new trail. It's funny none of us got a pic of that father-daughter team we kept running into every 20 minutes or so. Or the rock climbers; they were pretty fun to watch.

No pics from me, yet. I spaced out and left my camera in my car, rode my bike to work today, then unexpectedly got stuck at work tonight. When I have the camera back in hand, I'll see if I snapped anything that makes you guys look as goofy as I do in your shots :)

So I got this bike Thursday, completely disassembled it, serviced it, put it back together and was all excited to take it on a 100K charity ride we have in town every year. The start point is only a couple of miles away. It was laid in for May 7th, I was thinking the 7th was tomorrow so this morning I took it on a 34 mile shakedown run.

I got back home and was standing in the shower at 0830 and looked at my watch. That's when I realized the ride was starting at that moment. NO. At least I didn't preregister this time.

No riding today. Spent the morning running errands, the sort of stuff we don't get to do when we spend allo weekend riding. But I did get some great bike stuff done. Put a new BB in the Grandis then glued up some sew-ups and new rims. Well, actually, the rims are GP4s, not new but NOS so they might as well be new. I built the wheels (Mavic 501 hubs) some time ago. Been hoping to prep them for quite a while now with the intent of putting them on the Gazelle.
@Lazyass, good work watching the calendar. :D Nice bike though. Good that you got a ride in anyway!

Headed out with Stuart again for miles, coffee and a look at my possible future residence. Jim Muller Strange Animal Highlight: watching an adult bald eagle attacking a duck and her ducklings on the Sammamish River. I had no idea predatory birds went after other birds. We didn't actually see it haul off with a prize, but I'm pretty sure there's at least one less duckling in the world. Because nature :(

@Lazyass Been there done that, with running though. As Jim said at least you had a nice early morning ride. @jimmuller It sounds like you had a very productive Saturday my friend! The weather here finally broke today during the mid afternoon so I took full advantage. The wife was down in Lower Manhattan for a bridal shower and the baby was with her grannies so after work I took a quick 23 mile ride on the U08. Add that to the now 12 mile morning commute and today wasn't half bad. Tomorrow I shall ride very early and return to make a breakfast of her choosing for the Mrs. and grandmas and a nice Irish breakfast for myself. :)

From lower Manhattan to Marble Hill (and back) -- and I wish I had time to keep going. One of these days I'll make it all the way up to the Old Croton Aqueduct.

No ride today due to yet another in our long string of rainy days. I agree with @jimmuller - The GreatWet Northeast. I did true the wheels on the Raleigh - getting ready for Wednesday's ride from Oaks to the South St bridge (52miles RT).

Down at the "missile factory" (my LBS job) I had an interesting experience. I pulled a used Raleigh M20 out of the pile and spent an hour cleaning and re-habing it so it was ready for sale. Good bikes really and this one had been well taken care of. Put it in the rack and within an hour a Dad brought his daughter in. We talked and I pulled the Raleigh back down, raised the seat and said "throw a leg over this". She liked it so I rolled her out the back door where she could scoot up and down the back lot a bit. Big smile, praise from the Dad, I mostly shut up and let em think. "We'll take it". Gone. That felt good. Maybe she'll love cycling for decades to come.

Next week I'll start on the overhaul of the 1970 Crescent Roadster. Surfing last night lead me to believe that 'Crescent' lineage goes way back to the 1880s. Cool.

Found this in the middle of the road about 0700 this morning. Looked up the address on my phone and rode 8 miles to it. I guess she was delivering papers so I gave it to her grandad. She might need it haha

Took a slow ride today on the Roberts. Mrs CM wanted G&T's for happy hour, but I was low on gin. What better setup for a gin run (to Wisconsin, with their Sunday sales) than the Roberts and transporting the goods back in the Carradice saddle bag. Made a little more of a ride out of it for 55 miles.

Oh, and I finally decided to remove the Italian tricolori tires and put on conventional rubber. Note the @rootboy special leather brake lever hoods - can't recommend them enough. Went on no problem (I followed his directions to the letter) and they stay put. I think they'll develop a nice honey shade with continued use.

Rode on Saturday in the 27th annual River to the Sea ride in Wilmington, NC. Had a great time!

I rode a 101 mile century on the South/North/Putman County Bike Trailways by myself today thinking of my father this being his birthday. He would have been 68 today and I miss him though 10 years have already passed. I visited an old fishing spot that he used to bring me to often and other places that we used to go together when I was a boy/teenager. The weather was beautiful and once I left NYC and Lower Westchester very quiet and empty in many parts. It was a good day.
