Really lovely 25 mile Kinda Father’s Day But a Week Late Ride with daughter and SiL, up thru Rock Creek, Beach Drive, Cap Crescent, back thru the Park and up to Petworth.
Is there anything better than riding with your kids?

The BF censor limits my ability to describe the grin on my face for the entire ride.

On the final rise I felt the stored energy from the frame release and fling me up the hill in fine shape. It's perfectly balanced, neutral handling, goes exactly where you want it to go without being squirrely.

Today was the first shakedown ride on my newly built Mystery Bike. It's a little smaller frame than most of my other bikes but with a long stem and a little extra post showing, the fit felt great, and the bike rode beautifully over the ~15 miles of mixed terrain--a nice little climb, some gravel paths, and twisting descent. Just waiting on some Benotto tape to arrive later in the week. I think I'm going to really like this bike, even if I'm not sure what it is.

Humidity took a day off today so I jumped on the Rando bike for 50. Sadly, I think my longest ride since Eroica. Included about 15-20 miles of gravel. My route took me again by Our Lady of Angels Monastery, pictured a year or so ago in this thread. The nuns there , I recently learned, make their own Gouda cheese. I forgot my wallet on the ride, but went back afterwards with the kiddo to pick up a wheel and see the countryside together. If I’d have planned it better, I would have brought the wife and we could have stopped at a winery out the to sample the cheese. Another time … At any rate the cheese is very good.

Clark Road, about a mile past the monastery. Looking at Fox Mountain which I would have to ride up and over in about 20 minutes time.

Home stretch included a stiff climb, so I pulled a local secret move and rode through the JPJ Arena parking garage. Lower gradient and nice and cool.

I haven't been visiting BF much these days because I haven't been biking much except indoors. (I will shortly watch the last video of all seven seasons of the original Mission Impossible.) However we did take the tandem out last weekend. Just 18.6 miles early in the morning because it was hot and we had other stuff to do. It was a good day. No pics though.

65 miles on the new gravel bike, a beautiful day and a great, hilly, ride. I even found someone to watch my bike while I ate my sandwich in the park!

Still trying to decide if the Gitane is a keeper and really wanted to try AX pedals, so I set it up with my preferred 46/30 gearing with a Willow chainring on DuraAce AX cranks and a few other chi-chi parts.

I just got back from my 49th birthday ride. All told, I got in 51 hilly miles, including about 10 miles of gravel and over 5,200' of climbing. Beautiful day for a ride with a light breeze, a few clouds, and temps in the low 70s. I started on some familiar roads and then made my way along the ridge of the East Bay hills on Redwood Road toward Lake Chabot for some exploration of new roads and trails. One of the trails I picked turned out to be a way-too-steep MTB trail, so that 51 miles included about 1/2-mile of uphill, albeit scenic, walking. Overall a really enjoyable ride, though I'm wiped out. Time for a shower and a cold beer! Hope you don't mind all the photos...

Last climb of the day, Pinehurst Rd. This is a nice relatively short climb that is pretty tame for the first mile or so, and then gets steep after this switchback for the final 3/4-mile to the summit.

I should have said "Bikes on Bridges" - it's a relatively new thread that's been lingering near the top of the main C&V subforum these past few days (link below):

I just got back from a great visit to Seattle where @Dfrost kindly hosted me for a three days of bike rides and baseball. I'm a lifelong Orioles fan, and I try to get up to see them when they play the Mariners. A few years ago @Dfrost and I started a tradition of incorporating some of the great local bike rides with this trip. It was interrupted for a couple of years by COVID, but this week we revived it. Here are some highlights.

On Monday, we took the ferry to Southworth and rode to Port Orchard and back.

On Tuesday, we drove south for a bit and then rode from Auburn out to Black Diamond and back (as seen in the Bikes and Bakeries thread).

There was also some baseball. @RiddleOfSteel joined us for the night games on Monday and Tuesday, and since he rode his bike to the games, that squeezes it into this thread.

The official attendance for that game was 16,024. I think most of them must have been sitting behind me. Or maybe they went out to get a hot dog.

Ouch! That’s the kind of game BITD, we would have done an unofficial “seat upgrade” and snuck down to the lower level.

gaucho777 Happy belated Birthday Randy! Nice job on the “climb my age” ride.

One of last week’s rides was a ceremonial birthday excursion. I wound up hitting my mark, plus a fair bit after. A nice, wet adventure. :)
