^ see if you can pull someone over and report back. the rack is probably worth the cost of the bike. i would remove it before selling.

Here is a picture of the 1960 Raleigh Sport saved from the scrap bucket this morning.

Nah, not for sale. Not yet anyway;). I am going to buy some panniers(If I can afford them?) and use it as my commuter. Needs some fenders though, if I can find
some that will fit? Something tells me it's a lost cause, since it has no "braze" ons for them.,,,,BD

Maybe some Small Block 8 tires, and forget the fender idea? These tires grip nicely though. Not a single traction incident on the way home....

Well, I picked up two garage sale bikes. One is a nice Peugeot mixte (198 P18T), the other is a really basic Schwinn women's MTB. Both came with nice frame pumps, the Schwinn came with four extra tubes. And neither will require much work before they move on. The Schwinn does have some crazy rear brake cable routing. They didn't bother stopping the housing at the cable stops. OUCH. I'll have to sort that out.

I really need to drop some inventory. It figures, I moved one bike this week, then added two. At least I passed on a third bike at a garage sale today.

I had a similar Schwinn (a 700c-based Range Searcher, I think) that I gave to a co-worker. The cable routing with the pulley is an unusual approach but it works very well. I like the bars on the Pug also, I've been tempted to pick up a few of those for the bars alone but have resisted. Nice finds!

Bikedued, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that was a crazy good deal for a pawn shop, even the most clueless shops around here recognize Cannondale and overprice them accordingly. They must have been eager to get rid of it for some reason... :innocent:

Oh bikedued, them tires on that bike are bad news lol. change em! My Rocky mountain police mountain bike also had them, for some reason they love getting holes in them very offten. everytime I used my bike one of them always went flat

However here is what I picked up today. I believe it is a 1982 Schwinn Super Sport SP. It has been repainted and redacaled and has no head badge. Not sure what the rims are but front and rear hubs are Campy, Head set is campy, cranks and chain rings are campy, rear free wheel is Campy. Tires are Conti Ultra 700 X 25 that will need to be replaced in a month or two . Rear dropouts have adjustment screws to help keep the wheel straight. Shifters have been converted to Sun-tour Bar ends. This bike has all of the eyelets for front and rear racks. Bar tape is brand new. Front and rear dérailleur (sp) are campy. Front chain rings are 28/39/56 I believe the rear is 14/28. The bike came with SPD pedals All of the components are highly polished and show little or no ware. Paint is in excellent condition. I paid 225 dollars for the bike

What have I got**********??

Haven't been looking for bikes but took a few orders so will be looking for some suitable rides for people... upgraded a Jeunet mixte at the bike co-op today with a Suntour GT rear d figuring it's new owner would not appreciate the like new Huret Svelto it had as much as I will... and it will be a cool teaching aid when I do workshops.

Nothing special... made in the millions... but a very cool piece of cycling history.

Huret's engineers were genius at using folded sheet metal to make highly functional derailleurs.

Got this at a yardsale for $100 yesterday. Bought it on a whim since I needed a polo bike but now that I'm researching it I dont think that'll be its fate.
It's a Rocky Mountain Blizzard frame (1992 I think?) with a Rock Shox Mag 21 fork. It has a Shimano Deore XT drivetrain, Syncros stem and bars, and handbuilt wheels with Wolber AT-18 rims. Can anyone give me an idea of value?

Picked up a mid 80s Ross Gran Tour at a garage sale this weekend. I loved everything I saw about it except some dreaded rust on the top tube. I got my $40 worth from the new Panaracers and everything else (cannondale panniers, zefal frame pump, seatbag, shimano altus derailers and shifters, new brake pads, blackburn rack, and planet bike seat) are all gravy. Question now is how to remedy the top tube. Ishiwata 024 tubing too :(

Found this one at the flea market this morning. Absolutely stunning condition!! I put wrap on it, tires and tubes, and is for sale already. Looks like it was bought, brought home, and put in the garage or a back bedroom for 15 years. I was looking for cash, and don't have a respectable group to upgrade it, so it's up for grabs:D Gorgeous though, I wish all of my finds were in this condition.,,,,BD

You'd do better to start a new thread as this thread is to show off your latest pick up.

Angle grinder with a 3M surface conditioning disc, 400 grit wet sanding with soapy water to feather the edges. Then primer, duplicolor paint and clear. They have about 3-4 shades of charcoal grey. I could have that thing looking fresh in about 2-3 hours:D.,,,,BD

The Blizzard is one of, if not the finest steel hard tails ever made and you can still get this frame made for you, by hand, in Canada.

For about $1000.00

It is way too nice for bike polo.

And pressed steel plates... and titanium.

I tested the Svelto while it was still on the bike and it did work nicely on a 14-28 freewheel... it cleaned up really nicely and there is no discernible wear or play in the pivots so I am guessing it has seen little to no use.

A fellow I know told me today that he has a Huret touring derailleur to give me, said it had some massive cog capacity... thinking that it won't be a Jubilee but might be something in the way of a New Success touring version.

I have some Sachs Huret half ratchet shifters that could use a matching deraileur...

I like Cannondales in general, but I love this one!! That color is truly stunning! That bike is screaming for an upgrade to brifters, and an appropriate increase in market pricing. I need to start going to flea markets. Incredible!!! Good thing it is not my size, or I would be sending a PM right now!!!

Nice!

Too small for myself but Very nice.

60cm? Wish I were closer as I would be very tempted is I was only a hour or two away. Sell my 95T700 after putting it back to stock and put the 105 Group with brifters on that.

What you got was Not a bad deal at all with the up graded parts on it. Nice score!
The Chrome drops make me wonder if it isn't a Voyager though.
80's catalogs if you have not found them yet.

A good day at a yard sale. The only thing missing is the bottom half of the chain guard.
Anyone have any idea where one might find one ?

Picked up this Motobecane Grand Touring at a swap meet this morning. Fits the description of an 83/84 from this thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=169165

Also found the wagon wheel seen in the first photo at a garage sale saturday morning.

John, Picked up that Huret... it is a Duopar eco that was handling a 38 tooth Suntour cog when it was last used in the late 80's and is still in fine shape.

Mebbe I will find something in titanium if I keep looking and for those that have not seen one of these it looks like this...
