BTW, sounds like a divorce case ... ex-wife dumping her ex-husband's old stuff, or a wife dumping her husband's stuff, which will be ample grounds for a divorce. |

One of those Shimano Deerhead ones. It's got the all-silver look, the 28.6 clamp size, and the mountain triple cage shape going for it, and it's pretty, to boot. Not many front derailleurs seem to meet those specs. :/
Sorry, best pic I could find: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...tour-parts.jpg |
A few days ago I stopped in to my LBS and found this in the clearance bin. Now I have to figure out which bike to put it on....

Wanted to share pictures of my new addition to the fleet….a ’72 Suburban.
Purchased the bike via a local CL ad…older gentleman who was the original ownerHe and his wife are moving to a retirement community and are in the process of selling their house and cleaning out the basement. To say this Suburban is clean doesn’t do it justice…it is immaculate. He said he hasn’t ridden it in years…it doesn’t look like it’s be ridden much at all…he said it is original down to the tires (which are in excellent shape) and the bike is as he bought it from the Schwinn shop…including headlight/generator tail light. It’s a 24 inch frame and I think the color is Campus Green with gold accents (and please note the kustom Schwinn green bar tape on the handlebars!) Took the bike for a spin around the neighborhood and I was blown away with how nicely it rode…it rolls down the road like the bicycle equivalent of an old Cadillac…heavy and smoooooth. Everything on the bike is in perfect adjustment…shifts through all its gears quickly and quietly, brakes stop on a dime. I bought the bike with the intent to flip it, but I love it…it’s going to be my around town errand cruiser… Here’s a few pictures..this is how I bought it…I haven’t even cleaned it yet….:) http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/...trek360004.jpg http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/...trek360005.jpg http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/...trek360006.jpg |

anyone know anything about Reflex? Below the rusty chain and general neglect it's a nice bike. Interesting horizontal dropouts too, so there are many possibilities for it.
Mombat has a couple of old articles up: http://www.mombat.org/Reflex.htm |
Nice find. You know, you just can't have a bunch of leather seats taking up space in a bike shop...

Here's the three I just picked up from two different sellers,
1969 Continental, http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...s/DSC04148.jpg 1972 Varsity, http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...s/DSC04164.jpg 1978 Camelback, I absolutely love the look of these frames even if they are tanks. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...s/DSC04158.jpg All will be rehabbed and sold off. |
1990s something gt force.. $25 off CL.. person was getting rid of a bunch of stuff early in the morning at their old apt, so they listed it for cheap in the general section with other items. i saw it at like 4am and told them to email me when they woke up lol. i was sure someone was going to beat me.. my insomnia finally pays off lol. looks like a 56cm. I mostly bought it cause i wanted a 700c rim and was willing to pay $20.. so to get a whole bike for $25 is sweet.
of course now i have 4 bikes in my 1 bedroom apt lol http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/for/2288846078.html http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/9...q65s3b3qd7.jpg |

Sure are. The older couple were once avid MTB'ers. They just wanted to unload it all. Gave me some XXL Underarmor and misc cycling Jerseys, too. btw if one of those seat posts is 26.8 you don't want to get of it do you :)

PIcked this up today from CL
Anybody hear of a "Record?" Probably entry level. Made in Taiwan. Shimano, lugs, nothing fancy. Paid $40. New tires and nice rack seems to need only a bit of polish and lube. Has a little generator missing lens.
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...ecordbike5.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...ecordbike3.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...recordbike.jpg At least the chainrings are bolted on, not riveted. |
Bolted, not riveted chainrings are a great deal. That said, big red flags go up for me whenever I see rear brakes with cable routing like that.

First, major correction: It is a "Concord" Fury not a "Record". Sorry, should have checked it more thoroughly.
As to the brake cable I don't see it as a problem. Tested it out and it rides fine and brakes fine. I imagine it is because it is a woman's bike that the cabling runs the way it does although I must admit I have not looked at other women's bikes yet. From what I understand as long as there is a clear gentle curve the cables runs as smoothly as possible which this seems to. Since everything functions so well I am a little hesitant now to do a complete disassembly as I had intended. The other bikes I have restored had distinct cries for help...scruffy sounds from bb and headset, etc. Have to think about it some more. A few tentative polishes with fine steel wool on the rims and other parts will have it shining like a jewel but it bothers me a little not to know exactly what might be the condition of things unseen. Like putting on a clean new suit without taking a shower first. |
I think it's just standard routing for that style frame and caliper, Here's a couple I've had with that routing.

Crescent Varldsmastarcykeln?
6 Attachment(s)
Need help from some of the experts on this one. I couldn't pass up this strange bike, but am not sure what do with it. It is a Crescent Varldsmastarcykeln. From what I can see:
Lugged frame Campagnolo Shifters and FD Shimano 600 RD Campagnolo Brake Levers and Brakes Cinelli Stem and Cinelli Giro d'Italia 64-40 Handlebars Nashbar 700c Wheels and Sealed Hubs Some sort of Sugino Crankset? Some sort of leather saddle (Avocet?) Everything is a little rough and obviously pieced together. Only $25 though. |
For $25 that's pretty awesome. Looks like it's my size, too. :innocent:
If I had to guess I'd say the name translates to something like World Champion Cycle. |

I saw that on Lancaster CL as well. Glad one of us got it. Is it a camera angle or is the fork in need of some reshaping (I did not say it was bent....)
|
That Crescent is pretty cool. I would fix it up and see how it turns out.
|
Or "world master cycle," I bet you can recoup, if not double your money on that stem.
