They have been sitting a while, but great shape. The Trek 720 just has a little rust on the chain and some of the chrome, the Nishiki Prestige could pass as new (with tires) I went for the Trek and he just happened to mention the Nishiki...

How are you getting the second black pair of brake levers to work with the same two brakes your main levers are already hooked up to?

-also, those bar ends are pretty sweet. Im using one a franken set with one 70s suntour for the back, and an 80's shimano for the front. I snapped one of the Suntour ones during a fall.

I was at the car boot sale...er swap meet. I seen this Rossin beside a couple of bmxs, at a stall I had just bought some dvds and tools.
He said it was £20. I walked away. but came back and offered him £15.


Its got shimano 105 and 600 gears and brakes. Campag hubs on GP4 rims. Campag seatpin stuck in there. a tiny bit to big. but still rideable. the battery in the specialized computers flat. any hints on resetting it?

I waited for a train, 2 and a half hours. as I had my mtb with me. and 2 heavy bags.

Picked up a Burley Piccolo Trail-A-Bike (The Paramount of Trail-A-Bikes) for $100 in unused condition. Seller said his daughter used it once but refused to use it again. 4130 CroMo frame, 7 speed freehub and the Moose rack was included as well. My 4 tear old daughter was very happy when I showed her!

I would just like to add to the previous Rossin post first, that you couldn't talk the seller down to half the asking price is a disappointment for a Scotsman. I guess we'll have to let you slide this time. But don't make a habit of it! Just a bit of fun that. I'm just jealous, that's an exceptional buy and deserves a big heaping of haggis.

Now that that's out of the way, this Miyata Gran Touring pre-dates the 'vintage miyata' catalogs that end in '81. The owner said that he believes it's an '79. It obviously is older as it has Tange champion Cromo tubing. I just got it home and it qualifies as a boat anchor, none-the-less will be a very fun project.

Any hints on finding out how old my Rossin is? Its got R embossed on fork crown and brake bridge. Theres metal gear cable guides above the BB shell.
I take this means its an early model. I used to have a 1968 Bob Jackson. It had the guides above the bb shell too. Any Rossin pics Ive seen online are bellow bb guides.
The Shimano 600 mechs, cranks and brakes are plain. no engraved scrolls. Its got a 105 headset and gear levers. they have the ring to turn to switch index off.
The wheels are Campag record low flange hubs with a clip over the oil hole. got a straight thru block on it. Mavic GP4 rims are black anodised. Stainless spokes.
Im not sure. I think its had most of the parts changed.

Oh yeah. the 2 bags I had, on the day I got it. one was a rucksack. stuffed full of books and things I had got at the sales. Other was a thin bin bag of computer parts. It split minutes after I got it. I repacked my bags. to try and get it home. I think I could have walked home. or even scooted home. Its about 8 miles. flattish cycle path. Sunny day too.

I worked on it today. rewrapped the bars as there was about 6" of the bar tops uncovered. no evidence of tribars being on there. I trued the wheels. I adjusted the brakes. I pulled the cinelli bars and stem out of the forks. greased the quill. greased the bar clamp bolt. I oiled round the seat pin. took out the seat clamp bolt. the seat post seized. but it does slightly move back and forth in relation to the top of seat tube. so hopefully it will free up.

As for me, Alecw35...I salute you! I know that your purchasing of a Rossin for $25 USD, after bargaining the seller down 25%, would have warmed the hearts of those ancestors of mine who came from Scotland!

Friend just sent me an e-mail... said something about giving me her grandfather's 37-38 Raleigh since she wanted it to go somewhere that it would be loved.

Think that with a new shop space in the works it may get a place of honour.

Reference your seized seat post, I've had 2 bikes in as many weeks with seized stems, alloy into steel forks. I've tried WD40, twisting, pulling, tapping without success. Then I read about pouring boiling water onto the alloy, the alloy expands with the heat, crushing all the corrosion and oxidisation. When its cooled again its supposed to be easier to remove, and unlike a blow touch, it doesn't damage your paint! I had my doubts when I tried it, but its worked twice! Might be worth ago on your seat stem.

I was painting with a relative and he mentioned an old bike out back. It was old when he was a kid and he's 28 now. I know nothing about this stuff, I just like to ride. Can one of you bright guys help out here? It says Batavus and intercycle, on the downtube, and it is a folding bike.
