My neighbor moved to the country south of Nashville. He says the only thing he misses is the freebie giveaways we get here on craigslist.

I bit even if I had doubts. She gave me her address and where she left it for me. Drove there this morning and lo and behold, a 2012 R5 VWD. Full carbon 1x11 and my size (just need to change to a shorter stem). It appears not to have been ridden for awhile. Score! My first modern road bike. lol

I picked up two free Ross bikes, one is a Splatter painted Mt Hood mountain bike and the other is a Ross Eurotour 5-speed. Does anyone have an idea what year the eurotour is?https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...40455484b.jpeg

So I joined fb couple weeks ago....a blue super sport showed up for sale. Pretty far for a rough shape looking bike. Fast forward and today and my son had a cc meet in the area of the bike. Set up a time and went to go look at it. Real rough. Then the guy says he has another one. Now it’s 2 rough bikes. They are my size and I’m ok with rough shape bikes. But, after being home and realizing( sorta figured but schwinns usually come apart) that EVERYTHING was froze I was abit frustrated. As they sit it looks like I have frames and forks and stem and bars. And the poor Brooks seats are toast. I’m excited to have some chromoly fillet brazed projects though. 40 for the pair btw. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4745ec583.jpeghttps://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...76b84a97b.jpeg

Ross was still making those when I started in shops in '77 and I assembled more than my fair share of them. Bottom of the line but they worked. That's probably a '74-'75, maybe older. Nice Mt, Hood!

Friend of mine got a complete '56 Corvette dual quad intake setup that way. Air cleaners, carbs, linkage, fuel lines and manifold. Woman told her ex he had until a certain date to come get his stuff out of the garage or she was putting it on the curb. He didn't, she did. Buddy drove by and saw the intake so he stopped and asked if she meant to throw it out. She did. He offered to pay her something for it but she told him all she wanted was to have it gone.

The Eagle derailleur makes it 1970-1974. That one looks like a DE100 from 1974.

This was in that tangle of frames minus wheels, stem and bars. Ended up buying a bunch of other stuff from him, this picture was just the tip of the iceberg! I figure I have about $10 in it as purchased. 1991 DiamondBack Momentum, Tange Infinity frame, HiTen fork. Decals are roached and has lots of nicks and scratches. I'm going to try to touch up the paint but I'm probably going to strip all the decals.

You didn't happen to come across a Fuji in that tangle that you might send a gal looking to build a fun ride? (I'll pay ya.)

He had the DB pulled out for me and at a different location when I got there so I didn't get to pick through this pile but I have no doubt there was a Fuji or 2. He had a storage unit stack floor to ceiling with parts and I ran out of time picking though just that. I came home with much more than I went to pick up, he even had the drop center rims I needed for my late 30's Elgin. He said there were 3 more trailer loads and 2 truck loads besides this. It was part of an estate sale and he said he only got half the bikes! He's in LaSalle, IL. if you want his FB contact info. He's a little guy and kind of scary looking at first glance but is actually super nice and VERY reasonable on prices. If you talk to him don't plan on contributing much to the conversation though, I don't think I got to finish one sentence in the hour I spent with him. In fact, I don't think he finished one either LOL. I wish I'd had more time, I am going to try to get back up there one of these days, probably not until next year though.

Leopardskin sidewalls...

Where to buy new leopardskin sidewalls like that Fuji?

I have a number of old bikes that were hung up for years/decades that have this same condition, but I still ride them!
The sidewalls flake/slough off, but the tires are fine!
Not structural at all...
These bikes are used in the neighborhood and I generally don’t ride them any further than I am ready/willing to walk home if they go bad...
There are replacement tires waiting for that day...both tires will be changed then...

Pretty cool pick up from a local auction. Mid 90’s Paramount PDG Series 70 mountain bike and a set of Mavic Cross Ride 26 disc wheels in the same lot. I guess the folks watching the auction didn’t know what they were because I got them for $1.

I'll double...nay, triple your investment.

^^^^^ And I'll double... nay, triple that. Plus a dollar!

(There - have I started a bidding war?)

(I didn't think so....)

Not great. It’s pretty weak. It’ll need rebuilt or replaced. I’ll see how the bike looks on the tear down to see if it’s worth rebuilding. Looks to have sat out for some time.

Tempting, but there’s a project a brewin’!

Under further inspection someone put a little time and a few pricey components on this bike. The frame has some scraping, but the White industries hubs on Mavic wheels, Ringle Zooka stem and Ritchie’s bars are pretty cool. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1449b7a8a.jpeghttps://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3c7f8268d.jpeg

Are the chainstays supposed to be shaped like that?

For a dollar though, fine parts.

Sachs Lockjaw bottle cages. My favorite for rough terrain.
