picked this up, which is the o.e. spec saddle for my current project, for $5 at the bike thrift store. it's in better condition than the one i already had, so it's a nice, inexpensive quality upgrade!

Those are actually really nice saddles and comfortable too. Great score. Real leather too!

A friend we helped get out of homelessness last year has furnished his apartment with stuff salvaged from dumpsters. He scored this c.2012 Trek Skye last week and passed it on to me last night. I think it needs a rear quick release skewer (I probably have one that will fit), a woman’s saddle (I know I have one of those on the shelf!) and general lubrication and adjustments to be a running bike again.

I think this was a pretty good grab today. Not much luck with bikes in the thrift stores recently, but this was at a Goodwill for $30. 1993 Miyata Triple Cross. I found out why they probably donated it. The rear shifter was just freewheeling, but a little shot of WD40 on the paws and it works like new. should clean up nicely.

Is that an Ice Block clamp in the background, by the door? Haven't seen one of those in ages! Really nice bike too!

Saw that also. My father delivered ice in Oakland. He had the ice tongs, a leather pad for his shoulder, a scale and a collection of ice picks.

Sure is. I got those from an auction a few months ago. I like old tools like that. You can see a Holland pipe vise sitting next to them. Heavy duty stuff.

Put air in the tires and rode it around. Missing front brake, rear fender and could use some tlc/grease.

The Folder sub Forum would love to see that in detail, or maybe it’s just me...

Local online classified listing service (not Craigslist) delivered these last week:
2002 Trek Fuel 100

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...40d372454.jpeg

And a 2009 Trek 820 WSD:

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8c3199b65.jpeg
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1d290530b.jpeg
The 820 is like new; just needs some air in the tires and a good polish/tune. The Fuel needs a little more. Bought with the intention of reselling both in the spring but I may want to ride the Fuel a bit before I decide. Paid $50 each. I think I did ok

Some unusual and very nice finds while out and about today for lunch. Unexpected to say the least - As I commented to a friend, 'Best lunch break ever'.

All of it at one of the the co-ops here. I was working Saturday and took time off for lunch, I've been needing some Weinmann 750's to finish a project and was debating whether or not to pay a visit to dig through the parts bins as well as renew my membership. I finally got off my rear and went and glad I did - a matter of perfect timing, usually there's not much there and I happened to show up at just the right time. I made a sizable donation in addition to my membership fee for this, it was only fair. And I already have an installation candidate for the deltas.

Trash Day

On my morning walk last trash day I saved this Iron Horse. Looks like I have a winter project.

I would KILL to have such neighbors.

Popped on offerup. Looks like it might have a front collision, fork rake looks off compared to my other one and there's a irregularity to the tt/ht junction. All the better to harvest....

1990-ish? Bianchi Advantage

I picked this one up for free last week. It is VERY dirty and the handlebar is rusted beyond saving - fortunately I have another on a parts bike that will fit just fine. The bike has Suntour Xpress shifters which are not only stuck but will require those special "side barrel" derailleur cables (since found). I have actually been looking for a bike like this for myself - I think with some elbow and other types of grease it will clean up well.

It also "came with" an equally dirty 24" box store MTB. My first inclination is to try cleaning it up at some point and then donating it to a co-op.

New rehab project in the queue.

Handlebars definitely need to be replaced.

When a fork bend at the steerer tube, it bends inwards (from hard use, heavy weight etc, more than likely not due to a collision)

Not sure about that top tube though

got a little lucky. the shorter blue one fits, but loosely, on my Ross Signature. :)
i might shorten the longer blue one to get a tighter fit in the frame.

You can stretch the spring out quite a bit on these to get there, they will come loose with a light tug on a hook, then reseat with a good compression. ;)
