Picked up a nice marketplace find today. Haven't dated it yet, but somewhere in the 90-91 era Diamondback Interval TG. I was hoping for the 105 group, but I can settle for the 500EX group. really good shape, just needs a rebuild. Looks to have been set up by a bike shop and left alone.

Trek 8000

Free Craigslist ad 5 minutes from the house. I cleaned it up and put new tires on it-no adjustments needed, shifts, stops and rides great.
I was hoping it would be good for my youngest …but not for awhile
It seems like a nice LIGHT bike. If anyone has any insight on these I’d love to hear it. (The photo doesn’t do the red justice)

How were Cannondales filleted? Maybe I am using the wrong term. Maybe welds done in fillet style?

The cannondales were and are alwaysTIG welded and their welds were recharged and polished by framebuilders until they were very smooth looking . Aluminium can't be brazed.

$10 FB Markeplace find for today - a 1999 Trek 820 mountain bike. Used but not neglected, It was sold in Madison, Wi and some how made it's way to Columbus, Oh. Not sure on the size but I will be building it up as my around town/running errands bike with fenders, a rack, and some other goodies. I love the Dragonfly green color.

I LOVE the high-flange hubs. I have 3 pairs I think. One pair, 24h, that I'm going to use to build up a set of wheels for my old Cannondale Series 3.0

Picked up this Trek 800 Sport a month or so ago. Was planning to flip it but my daughter will probably grow into it before I get the repairs finished. BB is shot, needs tires and tubes, and drivetrain is worn.

A neighborhood "picker" was having a garage sale this morning

I came home with a Performance travel case, a B-17, and an odd SS frame with Tektros on a Spank vibrocore Flair bar, upside down King headset, Arundel bottle cage and more.
I'm interested in what the frame is under that paint.
We were both happy at $8 for the pile.

Probably not the best use of $11. It's a Hard Rock Sport with Suntour XCM. From the corrosion, it looks like it lived in a boat. The seat is stuck and everything is rusted, but all the bearings are smooth. It looks like some one pumped up the tires and sprayed some lithium grease around, and rode it till the rusted chain broke..

I figure the 7 speeds Suntour freewheel is worth the price of admission, and the XCM bits will go in the box of midrange Suntour indexed shifty stuff.

Assuming the seatpost comes out, the frame is probably a good candidate for Phosphoric acid, Penetrol and wax.

The rusty spokes are a bummer. The hubs are worth saving. I ride a bike with the same rims, and have a bunch of them on orphan wheels, and on project bikes. I'm going to look for serviceable zinc spokes, to see if I can get the cost down low enough to rationalize rebuilding wheels like this.

P.S. It took me a minute to notice that the frame has horizontal drop outs, which is a major plus in Beaterville.

It's a Zebrakenko Golden Sports with nothing wrong with it! The tires even hold air!

I will clean it up, replace a few cables, and probably sell it. It's too big for me.

Donation to the pile. Getting that time of year when you can't leave things sitting out so I got right on it. Took off a lot of funky accessories but only needed a saddle otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that's an IRO Rob Roy. I recall there was a more affordable group buy version in a green color.

At the time, for whatever reason, I didn't get one, but it should be solid. I saw one locked up here-and-there in Albuquerque when I lived there, but never bumped into the owner.

I couldn't stomach letting all that go for less than $10!
