Bought this beater Raleigh Record just for the Wrights saddle. Then decided to keep the bike and convert to my first single speed store runner with 700 wheels. Thanks to Ryan and Scott at Esperanza for the help and knowledge, and especially Jerry for beating that cotter into submission! Still need a chain, better seat post, brakes and cables. Will probably just put the Wrights back on after reconditioning. Sounds like a crispy potato chip now. Can't find a serial anywhere on it to figure out the year, but it has down tube shifters which was not normal for the Record.

Pulled from a Recycle Dumpster /No $value 1949 Schwinn
I live in a beach town and an old cruiser is the way to get around town without getting it stolen. Yesterday I pulled this out of a recycle bin, (with the help of the custodian, we had to pull some steel shelves of it). All bolts broke loose easily, seat post pulled out with a little oil.
Wheels are true, thank the Goddess, since the spokes are so rusted they would never turn. Tubes and tires in good shape.
Only real damage was to the handlebars, when the shelves landed on them.
Serial number search reveals that it is a 1949 bicycle!
Chrome under the black painted fenders is almost perfect and the cranks an chainring chrome are also in excellent condition to clean up nice. The original red paint responded well to test polish with fine rubbing compound, but Heck no" I am not putting 40 hours into this bike!
I'll simply rebuild the bottom bracket, rear coaster wheel hub, repack the bearings and headset and leave all the crusts on it and give it to the neighbor kid to ride around this summer.

Today Bianchi Specialissima frame and fork only, green paint not real bad, headset usable , the chrome socks seat tube and lugs has some pretty bad pitting, the drive side dropout is bent a tad. I picked it up at a construction/hardware salvage yard.

Saw one of the vaunted '86 Pelotons languishing for a week on CL with one crummy pic and this brief description: Lots of miles on it, but still pedals fine. Original headset and wheelset is long gone (Sansin hubs/mismatched Mavic rims now) but otherwise it's all there. I said "I'll give you a hundred," he said "Sold."

I picked up this Sekine for $75. With how bike prices have been lately in my city I think I got a good deal.
The seatpost is too small (need to find a 26.2), it has a junk saddle, and some cable housing has cracked plastic, but other than that it just needs grease and adjustment. It even has a brand new Kenda on the back.

Went to look at a cl bike from a guy moving and selling his dads "old" bikes, found this sitting next to the bike I went to look at for $100 bucks with a set of old cannondale bags included

Was the C-dale $100? If so, "dad" will probably disown him when he finds out. Nice looking touring bike, beautiful color and a really nice set-up. If it's your size, and you tour, it doesn't get much better than that.

While I like the idea of the Raleigh Tourist, I don't care much for the actual bikes. The little time I've spent on them has not impressed me, but while at the co-op today I inquired about this one and was told it had just arrived. No room for another bike, particularly one I don't especially want, but when the price for it was lower than the total for the used handlebar and front derailleur that I went to find, I decided I could not resist. And, like the guy at the counter said, "If you don't get it, who else do you think would even be interested?" The rims are rusty but it seems sound. Frame size 22", hub date is 80.

I work on my bike(s) out in the alley behind my house in the garage. I'm friendly with all the neighbors and fix flats for the price of the tube, pay it forward I guess. One day a couple of weeks ago one of those neighbors pulled up in her SUV and said, "Hey I don't know if you're interested but there is a bike out for the garbage man across from my house". It was about half a block away so I shut up the garage and strolled down and to my surprise an old Centurion Touring bike. Brought it back to the house and started cleaning, replaced the tires, and wrapped the bars with new cork tape. 1984 Centurion Pro Tour 15 that turned out to be in spectacular condition and a whopping 63cm

Saved this from dumpster death. I believe it's a 92', given that it has the Specialized-branded FS "Future Shock".
Missing the bolts on the fork stanchions, but it did have the stock wheels/hubs. Also missing the top bearing
and cap for the headset. Full Deore DX and everything has the S logo .. even the crazy stem/bars. Cleaning this
one up to flip, as it's too big for me. 20.5 seat tube CTC / 23.5 top tube CTC. Cleanest dump bike I've ran across
in 25 years!!

I snagged this 1986 Schwinn Voyageur for $150 + free shipping from ebay this morning. It's gonna need a little work, but I think it will clean up nicely. Not my size, though, so I'll probably end up flipping it.

Yep that crease is impressive, I'm replacing the handlebar. Just repacking the wheel bearings. The axle is stamped "Schwinn approved , made in Germany" The cones show no wear at all and the race is excellent. Lot o fun. The interior of Bendix coaster is without a mark. This bike looks like it was ridden maybe 100 miles in the last 68 years!
